Just returned from POFQ and met a fellow DISer!

You know, as I see more posters on the DIS, it seems like most are from the east coast! I didn't think I would ever find anyone that ever heard of Simi Valley, much less lived here before. We've been here for about 7 years and we're glad we chose Simi to raise our kids.

IMO, I think POFQ is suitable for any age. You and the kids will enjoy the pool, it's a small resort where walking around isn't too far, and the theming is very nice. Personally, I like it because it reminds me of walking down Main Street in DL/Magic Kingdom. If there's a next time, we might try a deluxe resort. For a moderate, we really like it!
I lived in Simi for over 13 years, and my parents are still in the home they bought in '65 - one of two original owners on their street! It's amazing how much the place has built up in the past years.

Well, you sold me! POFQ sounds like a wonderful place to stay. I'm all for small, quiet and short walks from place to place. Plus it just sounds beautiful!

I know what you mean about most people being from the east coast here on DIS, mostly since we're more likely to go to WDW than DL since it's closer. I know when WDW first opened my sisters and I wanted to go there, but my parents said why, since we have Disneyland to go to? Now they wish they would've gone to WDW. Oh well.

(I'd love to go to DL this summer, but after being at WDW, we're just settling for DTD. Girls have gotta shop without their men around, ya know?)

If you do go back and want to try a deluxe, we just LOVED the WL. It's huge, but you're never a long walk to anywhere. And nothing beats the boat rides to the MK. I just wish that I would've spent more time in the pool (I was usually packing up things from the day and getting ready for the next day), but the slide is awesome! It's like a river going through rocks with lots of twists and turns.

My in-laws spent one day just visiting all the deluxe resorts, and decided that the WL was the best, mostly because of the atmosphere and location. It was very relaxing and it did feel like a home away from home. There was a lot to explore around just in the resort itself.

Yes, Simi has changed and grown!:earseek: Homes are popping everywhere and we're even having our own mall! The only thing is that the prices of the new homes are way overpriced. We bought ours at a good time and it's appreciated a lot since then. That's music to my ears!:charac2:

Yeah, I think you'll like POFQ. Like I said, the theming is good for us, the pool is nice, and everything is close by. Incidentally, we stayed in room 5105. This is building #5, first floor. It turned out to be a perfect location because it was really close to the food court and pool.

For our recent trip to WDW, I actually had WL booked but my wife didn't want to stay there because she felt it was too pricey for a room that we would use just to sleep in. We went there during our trip and she regrets it to this day. If there's another trip, we're staying at a deluxe but we're not sure on which one yet. But, WL is definitely at the top of the list. Plus, it looks like the Grand Californian @ DL. We've stayed there and loved it so I don't think we can go wrong with the WL.

BTW, why did you move to the east coast?

L-O-N-G story made short - to escape earthquakes! :rolleyes2 Well, that's part of the story. First moved to Wisconsin for a job, then back to Simi, then another job brought me to D.C. on business, then I stayed on for grad school, moved to VA, got married, had kids, and the rest is history! I do love it out here and I really seem to miss CA most during the winter! We try to make it back once a year, sometimes twice if we can get out at Christmas.

The past two years we went to DL, the innitial Disney indoctrination for DD (4) & DS(6). :worship: They thought that we were going back to DL this summer when they saw me do all the planning for WDW. We actually told them at the airport where we were going. Had to do it that way, or else I would've had NO peace until we left! :earboy2: Now all they want to do is anything related to Disney. DH is still in Disney "training" (my family is just Disney nuts), but is getting better about it. He acutally agreed to get to the MK twice at 7:00 am last week to miss the crowds. That's an accomplishment! :hyper:

Hahaha!!! Completely understandable. I've lived in California practically my whole life and I've lived through some wicked ones. The most notable was the Northridge earthquake. I was going to CSUN at the time and that one scared the living daylights out of me!:earseek: But, we learn to adjust...

My kids are also diehard Disney fans just like yours. As much as we would like to make a trip to WDW every year, I'm trying not to do so. We spent so much money on this last trip that I can't see doing this every time we go. Which is fine for us. We get our "Disney fix" by going to DL and that's just with us...
