Just returned from OKW and did the unthinkable

Had a great time, but had some glitches here and there. First of all I had requested a 2 br, and two studio's, with a special request for one studio for my d-parents to be on the first floor due to mom's bad knee's. She has had on knee replaced, and one needing to be replaced. They didn't have a first floor available on check in, but did get them into a new room on day two. I feel it should have not been a problem since I made the ressie 7 months back. Anyhow all was well on day two. I had 5422 2br, and was very satisfied with the accomodations. Even though it felt like we were on a different planet I did like the seclusion. Mom and Dad had 5420 for day one, and 5315 for the remainder of the week. DSis and Dbil had 5520.

I will post a more elaborate report later...

Now for the unthinkable. Two years ago we thought we needed only the 175 points originally bought, but it has become apparent we needed much more, hence the untihinkable, we bought an additiional 130 points so we now have a pair of annual passes to go with the new found point freedom.

On top of it, my dsis also purchased 160 points. I got them hooked. Even dear old dad is looking to buy a contract, Yipppeeee. Boy, I think I should get a job as a guide. LOL

Glad it all worked out, Coach!

... and ... Welcome Home! (again!) :)

It sounds like our excursion of New years eve 2000; 16 of us at the Floridian. It all worked out for us.
You didn't mention if you all flew down or drove to WDW.
If you drove, how was the ride through CT, NY and NJ?
We're driving down from Boston in April 2005 and are curious to know what's going on with the rte 95 meltdown bridge in Bridgeport and the road work on rte 684 and rte 84.
Glad it all worked out for you,
Joe

No official DOT reports here, but I'm 99.99% positive that the Bridgeport meltdown bridge was repaired in record time way back when the accident first happened.

Did you buy the points at SS?

re: the I-95 Bridgeport Bridge meltdown.

The poster who said that the bridge meltdown was repaired quicly was correct--traffic was moving again over that bridge within a week. Having said that, I just drove through there yesterday, and there is still alot of construction activity in that general area. I think they are adding a lane, or widening the road or something. At any rate, traffic lanes are pretty close and state troopers moniter that corridor, so traffic slows down going through there for a few exits. I went through about 12:30 in the afternoon, and there were no problems except for traffic moving at 45 mph.

My husband commutes down the shoreline into Fairfield so he must go right through Bridgeport every day, and he says rush hour is extremely hazardous, and the traffic tie-up start as early as 6:30 on some days. And the rush hour jams most of the rest of 95 into New York until about 9:30 am. My advice would be to go through that general area later in the evening or in the middle of the day to avoid a back up that has been known to add hours to your ride.

Hope that helps.

Welcome back Coach Rick! I can't wait for your trip report to be posted!

I was there Thursday - Sunday at POFQ (used all our 04 and our 05 points are committed)

We initially bought 270 points at BCVs when the opened and after the first visit we did an immediate add on of another 50. Even now with 320 DH and I know we NEED more!

On another note, the DCI finals will be televised on PBS this year. Check out the DCI web site to see when it will be shown in your area! I got my tickets for finals next year!!!!

Right? Not sure I understand the part about what you did being unthinkable. Adding on or adding on at SSR? I think about it all the time. The two free APs have me thinking about it even more.

We did something similar after our first DVC trip. We had started out with 230 and quickly added on another 150.
