We just returned from 8 nights at the DLH. We were there for DD's dance competition at the DLH convention center. Our room was located in the Bonita tower and was adequate. Being DVC members, it was tough staying such a long time in a hotel room without the kitchenette. We spent 5 days at the parks, 2 at the beginning of the trip and 2 1/2 at the end. Crowds on our first Sunday weren't too bad, but Monday was a zoo with the Pirates reopening and I assume AP holders anxious for a ride. We skipped Pirates and decided to catch it after the competition at the end of the week. Friday, Saturday & Sunday (6/30 - 7/2) were surprisingly uncrowded and we rode Pirates twice. We were able to ride our favorites many times. I was amazed that there was never a line for ToT. We were able to see the electrical parade and the Remember fireworks.

DD is into pin trading and got caught up in the doubloon trading right from the start. We were lucky to get many of them from the treasure chest trading carts. By Friday she had all but 2 and was finally able to trade some of her doubles to complete the set. We met some great pin people at the cart by the World of Disney and had a fabulous time.

The heat was crazy and we're from West Texas! We were hoping for a little bit more comfortable weather, but we took the hand we were dealt.

We stayed concierge on our DL trip in November, so we had sticker shock on food prices. It really adds up over that many days. We're definitely going to rent a car if we return next year so we can get some variety on dining.
We ate our first breakfast at the Storytellers Cafe and loved it as much as we did in November. We got the first seating and had great character interaction. We also thought the River Belle Terrace had a wonderful breakfast.

DD's group did fabulous in the competition, so we're hoping to return again next year!!

Thanks for sharing. We are planning on going in 2008 for the first time and I'm trying to educate myself.
