Hello! We just returned from BWV last night. This was our first stay through DVC. We stayed from Saturday (7/10) to Thur (7/15).We had a two bedroom villa (rooms 5011 & 5013). The hotel was wonderful and we had an awesome view of Epcot and the fireworks show each night! At night we could not hear anything from Jelly Rolls unless we were out on our balcony and even then it was very hard to hear the noise. We did not have a problem with the walk to the elevator, but my MIL did get tired from the walk. With regards to the buses, we never waited for more than 15 mins. for a bus to any park (usually only about 5 - 10 mins) with the exception of one night to go to DTD (around 5:30 p.m). We did not wait, but another family was waiting for over 35 mins when we got to the stop. My DH used the phone at the stop and informed someone of the wait and they sent an empty bus within 5 mins. This bus filled up with the number of people waiting and went straight onto DTD (no other stops). The one problem that we did have was that on the last day of our stay was that I felt rushed to leave. The maid had come in about 9:00 to clean our room thinking that we had checked out (my inlaws had left earlier than us). When she realized that we were still there left, but another maid came into the studio part of the room and even though we were still in the other room (eating breakfast and still packing - the door was opened into the one bedroom), never came in to see if we were done, but just started cleaning. I did not realize she was in there at first and then when I confronted her (she already had the bed stripped and the bathroom cleaned) she did not want to leave. I told her at least 3 times that we were not done yet before she finally left. Overall, I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back!!!! The only suggestion is to keep the do not disturb sign on your door until you actually are gone from te room!

Thanks for the report!

The housekeepers at BWV always seem in a hurry to get into the rooms. Always be sure to keep the flip lock over and the door bolted when you are in the room, in addition to the do not disturb.

This happened to us too at BWV!! We had a 2BD and had the deadbolt locked on our 1 BD but not on the studio. As I was getting ready to pack at 8:30 the maid tried to get in but our lock kept her out. A few minutes later she entered the studio part where my daughter and friend were sleeping and started taking towels! I dont remember seeing Do not disturb signs but might have missed them. Besides that dont they get a list of who has checked out? I wouldnt think too many people check out at 8 am anyway.

With express check-out, they don't know who has already left because you don't have to stop by the front desk. So they just start knocking on doors. When we use the bellman, he usually flips the sign over to "service room".

We had to call a number at Pop Century to activate our express checkout. I wouldnt have minded a knock at the door to ask but this did not happen in my case or in the OPs case- they just came in and started cleaning rooms.

Thanks for the report! Glad you had a great time (and a fantastic view!)

We always check out by 8 am. If we use bell services, they call down to housekeeping as we leave. If we don't use them, we call down to housekeeping so hopefully someone else can get their room early.

Great point DebbieB - my inlaws did use the bellman so it is possible that they flipped the sign to service room. I will know better next time to check. My only problem was that she would not leave when I told her we were not done.

Lexxiefern, I like the idea of calling when you check out so that they can start cleaning the room and have it ready for the next people early. I nver thought of that.

I guess as we use the DVC more we will learn great tips from all of you veterans! Thanks so much!! You have all made our first stay less stressful and alot more fun!

Welcome home! Sounds like a great unit! We stayed right next door to it a couple weeks ago. How did you like the balcony & view? Any pictures?

Thanks! ;)

Glad you had a great trip!

I stayed in the studio - 5013 - in Dec 2002. They must start cleaning up at that end/that floor because the maid was there early in the AM. We were getting out by nine, so we just told her that so she'd know when to come back.

And it is a fabulous room - great view, no noise. Who cares about the walk!

Funny story also - we left to go check in at BCV. The CM there said she used to work at BW and what room did we have there. When I told her 5013 she said, Oh - do you watch All My Children? (Yes.....) Well - that (with 5011) is Tad Martin's (Michael E. Knight's) favorite room, he always asks for it. His wife is Catherine Hickland from One Live to Live.

Thanks for sharing your trip report with us! Glad you had a great trip::yes::

The only bad thing about posting my first trip report is that will mean my trip is over:(

Thanks, Lisa:sunny:

Glad you had a great trip. Did your rooms have a full covered balcony? I think we had those rooms 3 years ago and loved them!

CaliforniaDreaming - The view was wonderful! and yes, I did take pictures, although I am not sure how to post them here. If anyone has an idea please let me know. I would share them.

kathleena - Wow! I know exactly who you are talking about! I guess I could now say that I slept in the same bed as a celebrity :teeth: - Good thing they were not there that week, or we would not have had such a wonderful room.

WithDisneySpirit - I have to agree with you, the trip report did mean that the trip was actually over. On the upside - I leave for the Disney Magic in about a month & a half :sunny:

Patty3 - Yes we did have a full coverd balcony. It was fabulous, the only thing I did not like was that from Room 5013 the balcony was enclosed and you really could not see anything unless you were standing up. But 5011 had a fabulous balcony!

Last year we had a maid come into our 1 BR at the VWL unannounced. When she was confronted, she had a corkscrew in her hand and said she was exchanging it for the one in our drawer (no explanation why).
We thought there was something more to this and contacted the front desk and expressed our concern. To their credit, they immediately looked into the situation and apoligized, stating that they had problems before with this particular maid doing the same thing. We later saw the maid being escorted from the floor by two other Disney employees in shirts and ties. Apparently the maid was suspended for two weeks.
