Just returned from BLT...

Part 1/ just got back from one of the most amazing DVC stays ever! BLT was just perfect for us! It was me, DH, DD8, DD12, DB,DSIL, DNep4, DNei3 this trip in a 2 BD,LV. My college DD couldnt make it this trip, but will make the next! Anyways, flew from Chicago Midway VERY early and landed early. Very easy getting over to ME. just me and my 2 DD flew first and everyone else due to arrive thu-out the day. After stopping at all the other MK resorts first we finally pull up in front of Contemporary. Holy Crap!!!! My girls eyes popped out of their heads looking at the castle, train, Space Mountain, etc.. I knew I made the right choice with bLT for this trip!
We checked in around 1, and my room was ready! All requests were met. Villa 8112. High floor, check. Even number, check!! Amazing room.....Facing the castle, Space Mnt, and the lake . Perfect! Bellman unloads our luggage and 12 bags of groceries, beer, wine, water and before we can get too excited, I instruct the kids to help me put our two families groceries away. it took us awhile to organize the cabinets, juice boxes, tons of fruits and veggies between our 2 orders. Done!! finally! Lets REALLY check this gigantic place out! The place was a disaster ! The carpet snagged in 4 spots where I counted with 2-4 inches of thick thread hanging. There was white frosting looking smudges alllllllll over the couches, walls, cabinets, and windows. There was a huge red juice stain in the second bedroom by the nightstand that was 7-8 in diameter.What kind of monster child was in there before us??? How on earth did this room pass inspection??? It was really bad. I knew that BLT was pretty full, and that view was so amazing! So I started to wipe up the white frosting looking stuff that was all over and my DD started on the red stain when we get a knock on the door. Housekeeping supervisor asking me" How the heck did we get in this room". I told her we checked in an hour ago and this Key to the World ard allowed us entry and she gets on her phone and calls the desk. I guess there was a miscommunication between front desk and housekeeping and my room was assigned to me the day before the prior family (with the nightmare toddler , im gonna keep assuming this) checked out. House Sup said this room needed to be taken out of service a deep cleaned and some repairs made(she then pointed out a rip in drape as well) and the carpets needed steaming. ya think??? I shown her all the carpet snags and paster of Paris smudges, lol, and she was just disgusted. She said some guests come and have no respect for "things that dont belong to them" and I agree. So sad... Members will be paying for replacements.They then had me call front desk and moved me to 7829, true LV, and I had to repack allllllllll 12 bags of food and drink. That took another half hour. I didnt call down and complain, or make a stink, I just wanted to get settled before the other 5 arrived. the new room was perfect. Clean and had the bigger laundry room/storage which was great for us and our empty suitcases. The New room overlooked pool, lake and was a nice spot for the nightly water parade. We had so many closets that we didnt even use the giant one in front entryway. More in a bit!!!

Wow, sorry to hear about your first room! Glad to hear you got moved to a better one. We have stayed at BLT 6 times now and never had any problem. Every room has its own unique and fabulous view. We love getting up and walking over to the MK in the morning. How the rest of your trip went smoothly!

Part 2/ so, when we landed, it was drizzling lightly. That would be the only times I saw raindrops in 8 days of Disney . I gotta tell you- going this June with rain everyday I know the kids will keep comparing the weather to this last trip to the World. We were able to keep air off most of the trip and cracked the sliding doors open. To those who say BLT is sterile and un- magical I gotta ask- Are you nuts ?? From the beautiful, fun character art, to the hidden mickeys , and a monorail whizzing by from the MK, what'd ya miss?? BLT was just buzzing with excitement ... We rented a water mouse and used our dvc discount . Very cool! Saw the old river country from boat ... Did not use community hall this trip. Reason why-with the hours at parks so short. We came back to hotel each day for a swim in the daily 80* weather almost every afternoon . Great pool area. Luv how u need your key to enter . The pool bar had great, friendly service and nice drink selection. My dd12 loved laying out on beach and dd8 went doWn the slide 12,453 time. The whole property was beyond clean. Bus service to other parks was good. Never waited more than 10 min. The Wave was phenomenal . That place is very underrated . Used the contempo cafe twice. Decent food, decent prices. The outer rim bar on concourse was fun! Watched some espn and college hoops with dh while kids played in arcade. Had two, maybe 4 passion fruit margaritas. Yummy!!! Alot of convention people at bar that nt tho. All in all, loved this property!! Just fell in luv .....

It's reading reports like this that make me happy that this is my home resort. I got back from a quick 5 day weekend Jan 19-23 and had a beautiful 1 bdrm on the 14th floor, great view of Bay Lake and the pool. Even watched Wishes from TOTWL on Sunday night and loved it.

Can't wait to try out all the other resorts, though!

The parks were all 3's at the most and it was great !!! Except sat the 28 and fri the 3. Those were pretty crowded , at least at MK. We had DDP and has some great meals. Did Akershaus, The wave, Le Celliar, Via Napoli, Chef Mickey,Crystal Palace, Ohana, and 1900 Park Fare. All were very crowded except for Via Napoli which was quiet. Amazing pizza and Salads there . It's still pretty new and that was our first time eating there and I highly recommend it. Had to laugh at the couple arguing with the woman at the check in counter at Akershaus that they couldn't "squeeze" them in on a sat night. When cast member replied that people reserve this 180 days out the upset woman yelled "who on Earth is crazy enough to make a reservations 6 months ago?" the cast member kept smiling and said with a straight face " all these crazy people". There was about 25-30 people milling around waiting to be sat.We waited a good 30 min to go in. They were running behind.
What else..... Like I said earlier, the weather was amazing!! When I went a few years ago same time it was awful! Pools were great. Towels always stocked at pool. The only pool negative ( not Disney fault) was lack of parental supervision. There was a few kids(7,8 yrs maybe) that were running all around knocked over someone's toddler into pool. Thankfully baby mother was right there in pool! When lifeguard finally asked the Kids who knocked baby in where their parents were at, they said upstairs in the room . Is it just me or isnt 7 too young to be there on your own ? During the kids chasing each other ,they jumped over my lounger and knocked my iPhone down ... I told them to quit running and stay away from my chair. The lifeguard told them at least twice that I saw to quit chasing each other and running and the kids just laughed!!! I'd kill my kids, lol.... Arcade was great for kids. Very convenient and decent prizes.

Sorry the first room was a mess but I am glad it all worked out. I think BLT is a beautiful resort. I don't get the whole sterile thing people talk about. I think it is great.

We've stayed 2 nights at BLT thus far (1 for every year we've owned there). We loved everything about it except for the ridiculous number of bugs that got in during HalloWishes. We did stand on the balcony and leave the door open to hear the TV.

First time we've noticed so many bugs in FL.

Looking forward to staying there again in December. We also sent a note to member satisfaction when we got back listing all the issues with our room.

None were so bad they impacted our stay, but we wanted them to know to fix after we left. What puzzled me were the missing or bent door stops that are screwed into the concrete. I don't even want to know how those are getting broken. Errant ECVs?

Glad you enjoyed and have such a good outlook on the whole thing. Some people would have let the condition of the original room and/or losing the original great view ruin their trip. Looking forward to our stay there in April!

The thing that really gets me is that the parents would allow their kid/kids to even walk around eating whatever the heck that was and not clean up. That's why there is a high chair provided free of charge, mind you. Those huge snags were for sure made by them as well as the puddle of red koolaid/juice. They didn't even try to clean it up. And, while we are at it, how do you slit the heavy drape? That is a room darkening heavy drape. Although I wouldn't have noticed that if the housekeeping supervisor didn't point it out. It's really sad that people can destroy property like that. I'm sure that all damage has been repaired now and someone is LOVING that view. That was a GREAT location of a room. Hated to leave it, but the LV we moved into was just as awesome - just no castle as a bonus

Thanks for the report. I'm glad you got a decent room after having to move again.

Times like this makes me wish that the resort would hold the last guest responsible for the damage. But it would just be the resort's word that the room was in excellent condition and the guest would just have to say they didn't do it. So it would be a waste of time to pursue payment for damages.

I'm sorry to read about how damaged your first room was, but I'm glad that you had a great stay once you moved.

I also love the subtle Mickey features at BLT. I hope to spend a few nights there every year. I have 4 nights to look forward to this August!I have to wait until 7 months out, but so far, it has worked for me.

THANK YOU!!! I was thinking the same thing. They destroyed the room and displaced another guest who was supposed to get that room... Not to mention the money that will have to go into that room for repairs...what else in the building will not be fixed because this room had to be???

first they say not enough of us trade out - then they have someone in the villa who could not possible be a member.

don't know any members who would junk the place. could be wrong but don't think so.

then there were reports of how damaged the rooms on the inner of the circle were - when the place was FIRST opened.

just think there are some strange things happening at BLT that DVC is not saying anything about.

I thought nothing of it, thinking guest would be walking it into trash room. When I came up from pool, garbage was STILL there. And you KNOW those thin trash liners leak easily if punctured. A member knows to throw out the trash. I took the garbage from next to her villa and walked it to the trash room myself .... grossed out that it was filled with beer cans and dirty diapers.

Wehavesix- u will have plenty of room for your clan ! We really fell in luv with everything . Both views will be cool- but nothing beat putting our tired legs up and watching the cute water parade go by from our LV balcony ! My little one and niece and nephew just loved it!
