STAYED AT BCV FROM 8/03 TO 8/11 IN STUDIO 431.THE LOCATION WAS GREAT.WE WERE ABLE TO SEE THE ILLUMINATIONS FIREWORKS FROM OUR BALCONY.THE BALCONY WAS VERY BIG.IT WAS TRIPLE THE SIZE OF A NORMAL BALCONY.THE STUDIO IS NEXT TO A CAST MEMBERS ROOM.THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND NOTHING NEGATIVE TO MENTION ABOUT THE FURNITURE OR BED.THERE WERE 2 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN.WE OPTED FOR THE DDP.WE PAYED $783.00 AND BY THE END OF OUR TRIP WE TOTALED UP $1,250.00.EXPEDITION EVEREST WAS GREAT.THE PARKS IN GENERAL WERE NOT TO CROWDED AND WITH THE USE OF THE FAST PASS WE WENT ON ALL THE RIDES AT LEAST ONCE.THE MAIN POOL WAS ALWAYS CROWDED.SEVERAL TIMES WS HAD TO LOOK AROUND FOR 25-40 MIN FOR CHAIRS TO LAY OUT ON.A COUPLE OF TIMES WE WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING AND HAD TO GO TO THE BEACH TO LAY OUT.STILL HAD A GREAT TIME.CANT WAIT TO GO BACK IN OCT/07. :grouphug:

I always request room numbers when I make my reservation, and have pretty good luck with it. I'll be back in 2 weeks, hope my luck holds out.

I stayed in #431 a couple years ago. You're right -- the location is fantastic! I'd love to stay in that room again anytime! :thumbsup2

Isn't 431 in the Smoking Optional section?

BTW...in general, requesting a specific room number in place of another request may not be a good idea. If you ask for 431 and it's not available because someone checked into it 3 days ago, what is the room assignor to do?

Yes it is. But the balcony is huge. We have stayed in this section before and have never had a problem with a smoking optional villa.

I think only part of the 4th floor is smoking optional, and from what I remember, #431 isn't in that part. I've also had that studio and I don't remember it having any smoky smell.

I know only part of the 4th floor is Smoking Optional. According the map I have and the thread WebmasterDoc did where he surveyed the rooms at BCV when it first opened, 431 is in that section.

Now I am curious, which section does it fall in; smoking or smoking optional? I know the 3 villas we have stayed in, in that section, did not smell like smoke. I honestly can not remember if they had the no smoking icon on the doors or not. We are not ones that concentrate on smoking/non smoking when booking a room. We have never had a problem with either one in any WDW resort, so we focus more on location of the villa/room when making requests.

There is not a smoking section. BCV terms it "smoking optional" as in "If you want a smoking room, these are the ones that can be smoked in. But we'll rent these rooms to people who don't smoke, too." Smoking makes people think that they are always smoked in and non-smokers want nothing to do with it. Smoking optional just glorifies it a little and tries to make a you feel better that it was only optional that the party that stayed there before you could smoke there. IMHO they really should just label it "smoking", but I digress...

431 IS in the smoking optional section. Meaning the party before you could choose to smoke in that villa if they wanted to. A small section of that main hallway on the 4th floor and the short hallway that has the woods view are all smoking optional. It's rooms 425-452 that comprise the smoking optional section.

For some people, getting a smoking optional room isn't crucial and they'd gladly take the chance of getting a smoky room to get that great view. Others are not interested in stepping foot in a room that could have been smoked in. Just clarifying that to get this "good" room, it's in that smoking optional section.

Personally, a good view is a bonus for us. We aren't commando park people, but we don't spend all our vacation in the villa either. I haven't yet had a bad view at BCV.

Thanks zulaya. I meant to say non smoking or smoking optional.
We have never been lucky enough to get 431 but have been a few villas away 2x's and we always look over at that balcony with longing in our eyes. LOL!
