Good evening folks. DW and I just arrived back home a little while ago from our first cruise ever. We did the 4 day Wonder and met several DISers while on the ship (it is amazing that on a ship that big, you can't get away from some people) ;)

We had a wonderful time, and the seas were fantastic (they were generally no more than 4 foot swells). Although DW and I didn't do any excursions, I (and the other DISers as well, I am sure) will be happy to try and address any questions.

I will be posting a trip report in a few days, so ask away!

I was going to ask you if you met up with Melinda...I guess you did!! J/K...Mark

I knew Mark would jump on that one as soon as he saw it!!! Thanks for not letting me down! :earboy2:

Hi,

I was hoping you remember what movies are playing on the Wonder. We will be on the Wonder next Thursday! DH has surprised me with a 15-year anniversary cruise!!!!

They were showing Mr. 3000, Ladder 49, The Incredibles, and Prem-Eared National Treasure while we were on board. Those are the only four I remember from the Navigators.

Mark: It was actually funny about meeting up with Melinda. DW and I were on deck 10 during the sail away, watching the land go by, when I noticed this woman and her husband looking at our t-shirts. I then realized it was Melinda and the other Bob. We had a lot of fun with them (when we saw them), and really appreciated the fact that she made our Palo brunch reservations for us, so I can't say too many bad things about her!

I don't think that what Mark wanted to see, He was hoping to see somthing negative about me so he can report to the Sisterhood , so there MARK!!!!! LOL!! :earboy2: Although, Bob did see me with a ruler in my hand in the lobby as i was measuring the stateroom door for another Dis!

Bob, i just sent you a PM before i saw this. I am sorry we missed each other the morning we got off. We were all leating some breakfast on the upper deck, when all of a sudden, i realized that i didn't have my wedding band and diamond ring on!! :earseek: :earseek: (I took it off the night before) and so we rushed right back to the stateroom( i was so worry that the stateroom host was in the room cleaning already, but he wasn't)and it was NOT on the end table and i was freaking out!! I finally found it few minutes later, on the floor next to the bed. WHEW!!! My heat was beating so fast i didn't really finish to much breakfast and couldn't relax for awhile. But we did get off the boat just before 9.

Can you please tell me the size of the stateroom door, if you remember, so I can 'wrap' it for Christmas when we cruise Dec 16th?
Many thanks,
:flower1:

I'm guessing that neither of you had experienced any sea sickness? Where was your stateroom located? (first timers here too!-please pardon all the ?'s).

We aren't planning any excursions either-what did you decide to do in Nassau? What are must do's on a cruise and what would you suggest we skip?

Did you participate in any of the seminars (wine tasting etc.)? Would you recommend the wine package?

Any info appreciated.

Okay Mom_Rules, I will try and answer some of the questions here:

1) DW became a little queasy the last night. This was a combination of getting hot while packing, not taking her seasick meds until evening, and the fact that Capt. Henry was doing 18 knots through the gulf stream. I did take a precautionary Bonine, even though I am not prone to seasickness. Felt like being rocked in a cradle to me!

2) DW and I just walked around a little bit. I had injured my back on Friday night, and wasn't up for a lot of things, so we only walked through some of the shops and the straw market. Keep in mind, Nassau is not a little US. There are a lot of shops, just like you would find in any beach city in the US, but the culture is different. People can be pushy, especially for cabs and shuttles, but if you say "No thank you," they will leave you alone. If you get a chance, take a walking tour of Nassau. The Passporter book has a great one that will show you many of the sites.

3) Do NOT miss Hercules the MUSE-ical, Disney Dreams and the Golden Mickeys. These are typical Disney style shows, and were great for a couple of childless adults as well! Hercules can be corny, but it is still fun! Also, don't try and DO everything. DW and I wanted to do some things that we ended up passing on, just because we knew we were going to do another cruise in the future. I would honestly say, don't miss the Palo brunch. The food and atmosphere are wonderful. Also, don't miss the sail away party or the Tropical deck party in Nassau. These may be aimed at kids, but I saw a lot of adults (and we were two of them) right down front on deck 9 dancing to the music.

4) We did not do any of the seminars. Since we were on the 4 day, most of those occurred on the sea day. We had spa reservations for that morning, and mostly relaxed by the pool. I did do the Jackpot bingo on Wed., but felt it was a waste. Although it is a matter of luck, there were so many people playing that the first 4 games were complete in 10 minutes. We did not do the wine tasting, but I am sure it would be a blast.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Tiggerking, thanks for giving us all these details, especially for us first time cruisers (April for us)!
So was Castaway Cay everything that people say it is? What is your take on it? What did you do there?
How easy was it to get Palo brunch ressies? Were you so stuffed that you could hardly eat that night at dinner? thanks!

CC was wonderful. I only had two complaints while at CC:
1. There were only 3 hammocks on the adult beach. If you weren't one of the first two couples there, you lost out until someone left in the afternoon.
2. Despite everything I had read prior to our cruise (here and DCL info), they did not have the lobster burgers at the adult beach. We would have had to go back to the family beach area.
Other than those 2 items, there were no complaints. The island was beautiful, the adult beach tranquil, and the water clear as crystal (though a little chilly on our visit).

BMWDSNY made our brunch reservations for us when she made hers. She was there when the reservation desk opened, but within an hour, they were full. So, lesson #1, if you want Palo brunch, be there as soon as they open. As for being overly stuffed, you could easily do it. However, I had a rule on the cruise: I would eat what I wanted, when I wanted, but I when I was full, that was that. Therefore, I never made myself miserable with the food, I just enjoyed the opportunity to try so many things!

Hope this helps! Ask any other questions you may have!

We were on the wonder as well!!! Sorry I missed everyone but I did look for
some lime green but couldn't find anyone...Seas were great again I agree
except for that last night...My DS(6) had to use the bathroom around 3 or 4 am and we were thrown from one side of the room to the other...lol....
but the other time was fine...my DH did experience some 1st night a dinner
and the last night...but took meds and would be fine...It didn't bother me or
my son though. Our room was directly mid ship so that helped.
Windy....Chilly water at Castaway and word of advise if you take a little one
snorkling with you and they hold on to you while swimming...if the current is
going out to sean when you are trying to come in to the beach be ready for
a long hard swim......my legs were killing after that...Palo's was wonderful
our massage was okay but very short under 1 hour for the price I would
expect more... I was only disappointed in the breakfast I wish there were
more choices than just eggs and pancakes...I know at one rest. there were
mini mickey waffels but....
We did Black beards swim with the Rays...very good even though there were
200 folks in our excersion you had plenty of room and time with the rays...
My son spend 85% of his time in the club and loved every minute of it....
Bingo I agree seemed like a waste too many people and it went way to fast.
Congrats to the one from Jersey who won the 3700.00 jackpot though I was
2 numbers away....
My husband and I agree we will be going back to do the MAGIC 4 days was to short...but it was our first time and I can't say enough good things about
every cast memeber and function we did!
