We purchased the dining plan for 6 nights. This included 2 adults and 2 [$10] children. Total cost for MYW dining plan was $540. Total cost of food received from the plan = $740 :cool1: .

My opinions:

April 23: Dinner at Mama Melrose:
This was a last minute ps; I was not too sure we would like it. The service was excellent, as was the time in which our food was delivered. For appetizers, we had the calamari and baked caprino cheese dish. Calamari was VERY good, and the other was good. I had the Penne ala Vodka. This was good. DH had the Charred steak over polenta. Again, good food. We had the tiramisu (good) for dessert and the Honey Hazelnut Cheesecake, which was FABULOUS :cool1: !!!

April 24: Breakfast at POR food court. Breakfast very good-- definitely the best meal at this food court! We had 2 adult platters with bacon, sausage, biscuit, eggs, and potatoes. One child's platter. We bought two refillable mugs.

Lunch at Columbia Harbour House, MK. This was a good lunch for cs. Used 2 cs credits. Chicken, grapes, fries, clam chowder.

Dinner at Tony's Town Square: After a long wait for our ps, we were seated outside, in time for Spectromagic. DH had a WONDERFUL appetizer of mushroom/ gorgonzola soup (recipe anyone??? I'd love to have the recipe!). I had the calamari. It was pretty good, but a little greasy. DH had a delicious chicken florentine. Excellent disH!! I ordered the NY Strip steak. After 2 tries, they were unable to get the steak cooked :sad2: . I ended up eating some spaghetti and meatballs that were brought to our table by mistake. They were tasty. Waiter pleasant, but not too quick, and the manager was helpful. The meal took about 2 hours, and I missed the fireworks :sad1: . Overall, I would eat there again, though!

April 25: Breakfast at CRT. This was better than I had expected. The food was piping hot, and the service was excellent. Food was very good. The princesses were good, but the Fairy Godmother in the lobby was incredible! So lovely, and very interested in the children :wizard: .

"Lunch", although dd and I were not very hungry, we split a cheeseburger meal at Pecos' Bill's. VERY good cs here!

Dinner at Crystal Palace: I cannot say enough good things about this one. Everything was wonderful!!! The waiter, the characters, and especially the food. I had expected mediocre food at best, but it was GREAT!!! The food we enjoyed here included: prime rib, mushroom- chicken penne pasta, mashed potatoes, and red pepper/ corn spoonbread. Had an incredible flan for dessert, and there were LOTS of other dessert choices, too. :flower:

April 26: Same good breakfast at POR Food Court.

Lunch at Cosmic Ray's in MK. Used 2 cs credits here. The food was fine, but not as good as Pecos' Bill's the day before.

Dinner at MK during torrential downpour: LTT. This was another GREAT meal. The characters were wonderful, service was certainly adequate, food was very good! Really enjoyed this one :) . Used 4 ts here.

April 27: Same breakfast at Food Court. Since we had refillable mugs, we got drinks and rice krispie treats (desserts) for snacks later in the day (several days).

Lunch at Akershus, Norway in Epcot. I loved where we were seated here; sort of a side room, but with a full view of the main room. The princesses were great. The service was good. The food was OK. Appetizer better than entree. I had the pasta; it was VERY bland. DH had the lamb stew, and it was OK. My favorite of the desserts was the ligonberry bars.

Dinner at San Angel Inn, Mexico in Epcot. We had a perfect table right on the river. The children each had a cheeseburger, and dh and I shared the Queso Fundido and the Entree that was a steak with cheese on black beans with plantains (sorry, can't remember the name of it). This was great food! And wonderful atmosphere. We had looked forward to returning to theis restaurant since our last trip. When we went to charge to our room, they told us they accepted meal plan, so we used that.

April 28: Our usual breakfast at the resort food court.

Lunch: at Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. I had heard poor reviews of the food here. It was very overpriced, but we loved the atmosphere, and the service was fantastic. My food (appetizer combo platter) was delicious. Of course, I couldn't eat nearly all of it, but it contained crab dip/ chips, coconut chicken/ sauce (YUMMMM-- probably the best chicken I have ever eaten), calamari, and Southwestern wraps. DH had a steak, and the children had hot dogs and pizza. No MYW regular meal plan accepted here.

Dinner at Chef Mickey's: What a huge disappointment!!! The service was not good, the food was just plain bad! We weren't even offered the pictures they took! I would NOT return to this one!

April 29: Our usual breakfast at the resort food court.

Lunch at Leanin' Palms, Typhoon Lagoon water park. The cheeseburger baskets were pretty good, the chicken [fried] filet was SOOO bland and tasteless.

Dinner at POR Food Court. I had the chicken Parmesan, which was not very good. Pasta was overcooked, :sad2: . DH had nachos. I can't eactly remember what the children ate here.

April 30: Can't remember, but breakfast must have been snacks in our van.

Lunch in DTD at Earl of Sandwich. This was very good deli food. Even dh, who was not feeling well, perked up here! The children did not like their sandwiches, but are VERY picky eaters :sad2: !

The rest of the meals were on our own. We found the meal plan worked to our advantage (see figures at top of thread) ::yes:: , even though we did not order all the appetizers and desserts we were due! Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of food during this trip.

Any questions, just ask :flower: Thanks for listening!
Jeanie

You're making this difficult - I'm going to have to spend 3 days in the MK to get in all the table service meals I want now! :teeth:

Great report Jeanie! :flower:

I have a question. Did you use the dining plan for you breakfast at POR food court? If so, were you able to get a muffin, fruit, or something else for the dessert along with your meal?

Thanks.

Thanks so much for sharing such honest reviews! I'm glad the plan was a good value for your family, and it sounds like you ate well! ;)

Thanks for the reviews! I especially enjoyed hearing about your selections at each restaurant. :)

Thank you for the reviews sounds like you had a great time! Sorry about the bad CM experience....gasp we felt the same way the one time we went. I don't think I could get DH to go again even if they paid him to eat there :)
Glad to hear also you felt there was value in the Dining plan without getting every appetizer and desert.

Yes, abk96, we did use the dining plan for breakfast. We seemed to enjoy sharing meals between us, and that enabled us to eat both breakfast and lunches on the plan.

We did get fruit, Mickey rice krispie treats, 'dirt&worms', etc., as 'desserts' for breaakfast. Also, cookies and those huge slabs of iced brownies as desert for supper. So I feel sure that muffins would be allowed!

However, I did get denied fruit for a snack at the food court.

I was just wondering about the price of the plan. I was thinking for 6 nights it would be around $600 for 2 Ad and 2 kids. Also, how did it work out sharing meals?

Did you have dessert at Tony's. The menus on allears don't mention any desserts, I was wondering if I should use this place as a TS on the dining plan.

The plan was based on a 6 night reservation (even though we stayed more nights), and was for 2 adults and 2 children under age 9. ($35 + 35 + 10 + 10 = $90 per night x 6 nights = $540.)

The meal sharing was great for us! We are frequently (like ALWAYS) guilty of ordering too much food and alot of it goes uneaten. I explained to the children that we would place an intial order, and if we needed more, we would get it. Of course, we never did. Don't forget, you also have SNACKS! There would be no way to eat a snack if you didn't share meals. We enjoyed having both breakfasts and lunches (most days) on the plan, in addition to dinner!
