Just returned BCV/ HAVE ISSUES!!!

I'm new to DVC, and maybe I missing something but I am under the impression that other than daily house, make that mousekeeping, we are same as cash guests. That said, if I am unhappy with something in the room, I will notify the front desk, and keep doing so until I am satisfied with the outcome. If the thermostat will not cool the room, I will say something until it is cool enough for me. I am not saying I will be a *****y pain in the a**, but politely keep asking until it is fixed. If it is not resolved, I would say something to the Manager upon departure. You may not get anything, but the next time you come they might be able to help you, if you are nice they might even remember you and say they talked to the building engineer about the problem, and this is how they can help you.

I guess my point is, in life, if you are unhappy, SAY SOMETHING about it!!! Keep up until you are satisfied. I work in the hospitality Industry and the only way I can make a guest happy if they are not is if they bring the situation to my attention. They are also more likely to have it work in their favor if they are polite but firm. (please don't think I am saying anyone is being rude, just some advice from someone who has been on the recieving end)

Finally, 68, what are you, a polar bear? If the themostat is set at 68 in the summer, I have to wear a polarfleece!

Everyone's metabolism is different. I don't think anyone can make judgements on another person's personal comfort level ? Not saying you are specifically....just making a general comment. :)

Seeing as there is so much talk about energy lately I just read an arttcle yesterday and it said the optimum temp on airconditioning systems is 68-72. :goodvibes

Oh sure someone can. Watch:

I think that Daitcher's need for 68 degrees is quite unusual and inappropriate.

See, it's easy.

;) ;) ;) for the sarcastically impared.

Actually, since moving to Phoenix where we keep it at 85 during the summer (but it's a dry heat), when we do stay in a hotel, I love to ice that baby down - to the point where MrsT has to put socks on in August! :lmao:

I was just at the BWV and they must have the older thermostats because they were not digital. I had problems with this type too because you couldn't set it on any temperature. All you could do was move a slider toward warmer or colder. I found this really annoying because you had no ability to accurately regulate the temperature. And it never seemed to go off. I heard it blowing all night. When I was there it was in the 30's at night in Orlando so 68 would have been fine but I didn't know what it was set to. Is it like this at all of the other DVC resorts?

I recently stayed in a hotel that had a slot by the door to put your room key in. When the key was in the slot, the A/C was completely adjustable and you could use all the lights. When you took the card key out to leave the room, only 2 lights worked and the A/C set back to 75. It was warm when you came back to the room, but in a few minutes things were cooling off nicely. This is the best conservation tool I have seen in the hotel industry so far. It sure beats the motion sensors.

It is a clever idea. But us DVCers be just as clever. Since (in my case) we're all AP Holders, I just leave my kids KTTW card in the slot, so the room would be delicious 63 when we came back for the noon naps!

Plus, I bet old KTTW cards would work to, or if not, just get a card re-issued for oneof us.

And Dave, I would never do that at my home resort, just yours!!!! Kidding, Kidding, I'm just kidding.

Now if they required a BLUE DVC membership card, that would stop the abuses, and prevent renter's from enjoying a cool night's sleep, and that is a win all the way around.

I just came back from Pop Century 1st week of Feb and I thought until reading this board, that something was wrong with me when in the room. We would come back from a park at the end of the day and the room would be stuffy and warm and the temp was set at 70 , so just to get air circulating ( no ceiling fan :-( we would put it at 69 and 1/2 hour later it was freezing. I guess something was up with that digital thermostat .

The way DVC works is that except for a 4 month booking advantage, all members are equal. That means if I own at VWL but want to stay at BCV, I'm entitled to do that. And if I find the room temperature to be too warm to keep my sides of beef frozen, I'm perfectly within my rights to request a temperature setting I find more acceptable. I would hate to think you're suggesting that only people who pay dues at a certain resort are entitled to be comfortable, because that's just not the way DVC works. Within the context of the DVC system, and after the 4 month booking window has expired, it's irrelevant where a member pays their dues. Don't forget, you have the same rights to stay at VWL and crank the a/c if you want to feel like you're getting your money's worth. :)

Agree :thumbsup2

At times people tend to get upset when someone says something bad about DVC.

We need to remeber while DVC is a wonderful thing, it is not always 100% perfect and the flaws need to be corrected.
