Just received this from MICDAN

Well, if thats the big news it's kind of disappointing. Nice itineraries, but still a Carribean cruise during hurricane season. I priced the Sept. 7-17th cruise on the Disney Website for a family of 5 in Cat. 4 -$9000 and some change.
We will be keeping our Oct. 2006 Wonder cruise and continue to hope for something awsome in 2007.

The two iteneriaries are confirmed, you can book them on the DCL website now, I'm sure the TA's have it as well.

Cruise Line announced today that its Disney Wonder cruise ship will embark on two special 10- and 11-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean in September 2006. This marks the first time Disney has offered cruises longer than three- or four-nights aboard the Disney Wonder.

The Southern Caribbean itinerary includes exotic ports such as St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua and St. Kitts. Barbados and St. Kitts are new ports of call for Disney Cruise Line. The 10-night cruise will depart on Sept. 7, and the 11-night cruise departs on Sept. 17, 2006.

"We have found that once our guests experience a Disney cruise, they are eager to return again for a new adventure to different ports of call," said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin. "These special, longer cruises were designed with our repeat guests in mind."

The itineraries for the Disney Cruise Line 2006 Southern Caribbean Cruises are as follows:

Disney Wonder Southern Caribbean Cruises

Wednesday - Antigua Saturday - Antigua
Thursday - At Sea Sunday - St. Kitts
Friday - At Sea Monday - At Sea

Rates for the 10-night Southern Caribbean cruise start at $1,299 per person and the 11-night voyages begin at $1,499 per person.

Voyages to the Southern Caribbean add to an already diverse 2006 schedule of sailings. Starting May 27 and departing every fourth week through Dec. 9, 2006, Disney Cruise Line will offer alternate Western Caribbean cruises aboard the Disney Magic® that includes two stops at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, coupled with a new port of call, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.

Dana Allensworth Make sure to call and book a stateroom asap for best availabilty.

Yes guests, NO Hawaii or Alaska just oompa islands! :confused3
Same old stuff notning exciting for me! If one stop was Aruba maybe! If I want to go to these islands I would try a newer ship! Disney, IMO if you want new business its time to build the new ship like all the other lines are and have done. Still wishing, I won't give up for a new ship or new destination (2008 :rotfl: ), This (current trips) is all getting too old for me including the ships! :cool1:

By going from PC to St. Thomas, that should solve the nasty early immigration problem since it would be U.S. port to U.S. port, if that info on the new extended Wonder cruises is correct.
But these itineraries look attractive and for those who avoid the east because of the early immigration, that issue would appear resolved for these cruises.

Excuse my ignorance ... but what does this mean? What is the early immigration problem? :rolleyes1

HEllo,

It seems the southern 10 and 11 day sailngs are quite attractive to myfamily. However... WHERE is the advance booking discount? These rates seem more or less full brochure rates - especially for a September sailing.

Anyone feel these September HURRICANE SEASON rates are brouchure or what? http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/reserve/reservation?name=ReservationPage :teacher:

But- I for one welcome ANY change in the usual easter and western routes they sail. And as for the west coast and Panama transit sailngs - we missed out on Panama - and we live in LA so a MExican sailng holds little allure for us so we pased on this "drive up" opportunity. :moped:

Of course, I would like to voice my requset to DCL for a European or Alaskan sailng - but Alaska is less likely since Holland America/Carnival own all the shore side assets that make these sailngs attractive to those interested int he "destination". And as most of us would agree - with DCL the SHIPS and Castaway Caye are a lot of our destination objective!

I would like to think a European or MED cruise could co-market with Disney France .... or possibly a really nice unusual and semi-exotic sailng would be an Asian cruise linked to the new Hong Kong (or Japanese) Disney parks. We've not sailed the MED or Asia yet - but we would do it if the right combination of ship - timing - and to some extent ... price converged.

At any rate - there's our $0.02 worth of commentary!

Woo-Hoo.... we're be following this thread from the Magic starting September 3rd if a hurricane doesn't disrupt our sailng!

Adios! :bounce:

Because St Thomas is a US territory, when the Magic arrives there they are coming from a foreign port (St Maarten) so EVERYONE on the ship has to get up WAY early (like 6am or 7am) to go through immigrations/customs. And they won't clear the ship until EVERYONE (infants included) have done this.

In theory, since St Thomas is the first port after Port Canaveral, and not coming from a foreig port, going through immigrations/customs shouldn't (in theory) be necessary.

For Saturday and Sunday... What does this mean? Castaway Cay, Port Canaveral, Castaway Cay?

I'm confused. I think the Thursday - Port Canaveral is a misprint also right?

I'm suprised they would charge so much during hurricane season. We'd love to go to these ports, but what if we don't dock because of high seas? That would be my only concern.
