Just received this from MICDAN

I think there may be a few Alaska Repo cruises leaving out of LA. I believe HAL, Princess and Celebrity each have ships sailing out of San Francisco to Alaska. All those itineraries are more than 10 days though.

Most 7 day cruises are R/T Seattle or Vancouver or one way North or South bound.

That's what I was thinking, I don't think 7 days would be enough.

I think they have the same problem with Hawaii, unless they had people flying there and then cruised the islands.

I want to know if there is any true news, too! Am waiting to book 2007 with DH's family

Dana is a nice and knowledgeable person so I am sure she has heard something and we will all be clued in shortly.

This is always an exciting time for us DISers since we live for news like this.

I think they are going to Hawaii and will make use of the property they own there! Remember that Florida and Hawaii are the number 1 & 2 places to go for a trip! When I think of Alaska , I don't think of chidren....usually an older group. :cool1:
Florida & Hawaii may rank high for LAND based trips, but Alaska is #1 for cruise destinations with the Caribbean/Bahamas being #2 and I think Mexico is #3 (Mediterranean may be #3).

If DCL does Hawaii it would have to be 10-14 day cruises. Since DCL is not a US flag fleet, they need to go to a foreign port. If they originate in Honolulu, the foreign port usually is the Fanning Islands (10 day cruise). If they originate in LA or San Diego, then they can hit Ensenada as the foreign port but those cruises tend to be 14 nights long.

i read somewhere that disney started an adventure type thing in hawaii this year. it's like a packaged family vacation, w/a disney touch. no theme parks or anything, but just the whole "disney package"...

anyways, maybe they're tying that up w/a cruise?

that's my wishful thinking! since 2007 would be our 10th anniversary, and we'd like to go to hawaii for that...hmmmm...hope it works out!!

can't wait to hear what the "news" might be... :flower:

Suggest you check out http://www.cruise4.com/Top20CruiseDestinations.html or similar site (with more recent info). I think Miami is the largest cruise port in terms of number of ships sailing from it.

Just wondering, since so many of you have talked to Dana and have used her for your cruises, anyone bold enough to call her up and try to get her to talk??? :earsgirl:

she is soooo easy to talk to - I loved her! Give her a jingle :)

Dana and I talked about my upcoming 2006 cruise - the Dis board - and all kinds of general things - she adores her friends here on the Dis board. When we talked - it almost felt like I was talking to a friend - not a TA.

She told me to contact her closer to my date of cruise - but also gave me tons of tips for my cruise after this cruise.....
:)

This came through disneycruise@yahoogroups.com . Is this what you think she meant?:

Looks like some exciting new itineraries, and as a bonus they are on the Disney Wonder and not the Magic!

Westjones,

Probably, since these dates have been conspicuous by their absence and many have "Wonder"ed (wow, bad pun) what DCL intended on doing with them.

Tradtionally Alaska was considered the choice for the senior set but if you check on some other sites that give reviews about children pregrams in particular, one of the reoccurring themes is that Alaska is becoming an increasingly more popular choice for families with kids.

My wife and I honeymooned on a cruise to Alaska, we are looking to introduced our kids to cruising and have settled on DCL for that. It would be cool to me to combine the two! :flower:

This is confirmed and will be booking later today.
Oh how I wish I could book this one!!!!

By going from PC to St. Thomas, that should solve the nasty early immigration problem since it would be U.S. port to U.S. port, if that info on the new extended Wonder cruises is correct.

Alaska dreamers, dream on. Not with a 2 ship fleet, nope, no way. Hawaii issues also addressed by the non-U.S. Flag posting which has gotten considerable bandwidth space on other threads (including by me) as to why it is a lovely idea that just wont happen.

But these itineraries look attractive and for those who avoid the east because of the early immigration, that issue would appear resolved for these cruises.

I wish DCL would do the 10 0r 11 night in the summer. I"ll have 2 in college (DS freshman , DS a senior )and DD in sophomore year of HS in 2006. They don't like missing school for that long. Is the Magic going to be in Drydock Sept. 06? We are wating for summer 2007 itineraries. we rebooked onboard on our west coast cruise for summer 06 but we'll move it when something really interestingfor 07 comes out.
