Just received Shore Excursion Confirmation for CC and -

the dates were wrong.

This is our first ever cruise - 3 day Wonder Aug 5 - 8, 2004, and we will be at CC on Aug 7., but the shore excursion confirmation has Aug 6. I called DCL and was told that they just had a big meeting on this very same problem. It seems that their new computer system doesn't distingush the difference between the Magic and Wonder and the computer will bring up the first available dates for shore excursions. In this case it was the 6th when the Magic will be in port. They were told to be very careful and double check the dates. This happen even though I gave DCL our Cruise reservation # when I booked the shore excursions. I was able to rebook our excursions for the 7th and got times close to our original requests. I don't know if this is a problem for CC excursions only but I just wanted to let everone know that this can happen and check your shore excursion dates. It would have been very disappointing if we got to CC and weren't able to do the excursions due to the date mixup.
 
did you get your confirmations in the mail? Who did you book with? How long after your making the reservations did you get your confirmations?

I'm guessing this would only be a problem with CCay since that's the only port that both the Magic & Wonder share.... What a pain though, I hope they are going to fix this "glitch" in their "new" computer system!! :earseek:

Oh my gosh! We had this exact problem last week at Castaway Cay! We were on the Wonder and had two appointments for parasailing at 10:30. Around 10:15 or so, we got the girls out of the snorkeling lagoon and grabbed the tram to the little hut that you go to (my mind has gone blank and I can't remember its name). I walked up and told the girl that we had two appointments for 10:30 and she looks at me and say "You mean 11:00." I said "No, 10:30." She says "There aren't any 10:30 appointments if you are on the Wonder, so you must be going up at 11:00." Now we have never been to Castaway Cay before, so I thought that maybe you were supposed to arrive a half hour early and that was why our tickets said 10:30. So I mentioned that to her and she asked to see our tickets (we had four tickets per person for some reason...still don't know why). She looks at them and says "Oh I'm sorry, you had an appointment to parasail yesterday." Huh? I'm on the Wonder, it wasn't here yesterday! All of a sudden, she realizes what she has just said and they all start looking at each other like "What is going on???" Our tickets showed that we were on the Wonder, but everything else showed the Magic's dates and times. Luckily for us, they were able to fit the girls in at 12:00, so everything worked out in the long run, and they were all very nice about the mix-up. She also told us that she would check at the end of the day to make sure that we were only charged for 2 people parasailing since we had so many tickets and said that she would correct it if it was wrong. I checked out printout at the end of the trip, and everything was fine.

I wish I had gotten a confirmation of my excursions in advance so that we could have cleared it up before arrival, but we never received one.

Glad to hear your mix-up had a happy ending.

When I booked the shore excursions with DCL I was asked if I wanted a comfirmation mailed to me. An when I called and make the date change I was asked if I had a fax number that they could fax the new confirmation to. So I had them fax it to me at work. The DCL representitive that help me with the correction was Oprah and she was great.

I wish they had given me that option. I called twice and they never asked about a confirmation. About a month before our trip, I posted on this board that I had lost my confirmation number and asked if they would be sending me something, and I was told no, but that I should call. Hopefully this is something new that they are doing...it really would have helped in my case.
 
ALWAYS get the confirmations for your shore excursions. People aren't perfect and our TA really screwed up our last trip including the excursions we booked. We wrote out the excursion numbers, names, amount per person to be charged and guess what? The TA wasn't even close to the correct excursions (wrong at ALL 4 ports). We called DCL, told them want the problem was and they did fix it for us even though we booked the trip through a TA.

I can understand what Holly (Minnie&Mickey) said about not being able to get a comfirmation. I have made other reservations thru Disney (not cruise related) and have been told that they do not send a confirmations. My original post was to alert everyone of the problem.
