We're doing a split stay - staying at POR 7/13-7/17, then moving to AoA 7/17-7/19. We're not doing any dining plans, but I'd planned on buying resort refillable mugs for us during our POR stay.

Will I have to buy brand new mugs at AoA, or can they re-activate the same mugs for our stay there? That's my hope, but if not, we'll just plan to purchase individual drinks as needed for the last 2 days of our trip.

Thanks!!

You can use the same mug at both resorts. When your mug is activated at the first resort it is good for 14 days.

Does this hold true when you are on the DDP too??
We have a split stay and are only doing the dining plan for 4 of the 7 days.
Thanks!!

Mugs are good for refills at any Disney resort for 14 days, regardless of number of reservations. They will still be active after checking out of a room with the dining plan linked to it as well.

As long as your dining plan is active during the first part of your split stay your mugs will remain active for a total of 14 days.

Great to know!! Haven't been on the DDP since they added the chip to the mugs!!
Thank you for the info!!

We stayed at AOA one weekend and then went back the next weekend and stayed at Pop. We bought the mugs at AOA and used them for both stays. When you use it at the drink machine it will say when it expires but it is 14 days.

Also worth noting that if your stay is longer that 14 days you can take it to a cast member and they can adjust it to your longer stay.

You get a 2nd set of mugs as well when you check in to your new hotel as long as you're also on the DDP in the new resort. When we did a split stay in 2014, we were in the same room in the same hotel...but because it was DVC they were doing some behind the scenes shenanigans and we ended up having to like, check in and out, we lost DDP credits. It was kind of a nightmare, although in the end they made it right. Anyway, we ended up getting 2 sets of mugs due to the "split stay".

You can use your mugs at POR without doing anything. In fact, you can use them at any resort during your stay (we did a split stay at Pop/AKL, and used our mugs at both, without a problem, and on the day we switched, we stopped at the Contemporary for lunch and used our mugs there as well).

If it was more than one reservation number, then it was two separate reservations. Having to check out and in is absolutely normal for two reservations.

Awesome - thanks!!!! :thumbsup2
We had DDP first part of split stay at BCV last October, then no dining plan at Poly, mugs from BCV worked fine at Poly. This past May we had DDP at Poly then went on to Vero. Saved receipt and when we checked in, the front desk at Vero directed my DH to bring the receipt and the mugs to the gift shop. I think this was necessary because it was a split between a WDW resort and Vero. In any case, worked both trips.:thumbsup2ENJOY!

Yes...I realize that in normal circumstances, you would check in and out. But it was because of DVC that they ended up giving us 2 separate reservations although we stayed in the exact same room. They did not fully explain the ramifications of what they did during the booking of the room. We weren't even aware of it until we checked in and even then they were like "Nothing changes...you just have to come down and verify the credit card on file". Meanwhile, LOTS of things changed with our DDP and it really screwed our trip up. Knowing what I do now after going though all that nonsense, I would have a better understanding of what the DVC person was doing.

DVC did nothing. I'm assuming you rented the reservations? (most people call it renting points but that's not what actually happens) The person renting you the points, for some reason, made two reservations. There would have been two separate charges for the dining plans, too, unless you paid the person and the person paid from their CC.

They did not fully explain the ramifications of what they did during the booking of the room.

I wonder WHY they did that?

And did you connect them to your MDE account?

It's just a weird thing. Unless they had more than one contract that they were using, it really makes no sense. I would never expect that to happen in the future, really. It's not usual to randomly book someone two reservations at the same room type, and it's not normal to have the dining plan so messed up.

We own DVC, so we did not rent the points. From what I recall, they could not get us for the full 10 days in the same room, so at one point, we were supposed to move to BWV for half of the stay. When we checked in to BCV they said "Good news! We don't have to move you and you can stay in your room for the full 10 days". So at one point, we had 2 reservations, but we didn't know they assigned 2 different reservation numbers to the same room. Sorry for hijacking this thread LOL
