Just read triathalon is on 25th of Sept

Is this true and are the crowds really that bad? We are planning to be at MK that day because its the only day they are having Spectro parade while we are there. Where does the triathalon take place and how long does it last. I am concered about the crowds at MK.
Any info would be great.

Dont they realize we plan MONTHS in advance??? They cant be adding stuff to their plate after we've booked!!!

We arrive on the 23rd. We will be in MGM on 24th and MK on 25th. Does that mean we will miss it?

The Triathalon Weekend is the 22nd - 24th. Kids Tri and Aqualon are on Sat the 23rd and the Triathalon is on Sunday the 24th. All clear on the 25th. If the weekend is similar to the Marathon weekend, the crowd will be before. After they are pooped and head home.

Look at their site to see the courses if you are concerned about your day on Sunday the 24th, that could be messy with some issues.

I read in another post that the date was 25th. Later i found the correct dates. I think I can breath a little easier now. I thought the runners and families would all pile into the MK on that day. We arrive on the 21st and are heading to AK and Epcot on 22nd. Taking a break on 23rd. and MK on 24th and 25th. We sould be ok. We have waited so long for this trip I didnt want a large crowd to overtake us.

Trimom chiming in....

The race starts just after sunrise, 7:30 am - I am a middle of the packer, and I can finish this distance in under 2 1/2 hours. So the whole thing will be over by noon. The only park that will be effected is Epcot. They will probably have half the walkway roped off, similar to the marathon. Getting around the World will be tricky that morning, the bike portion is on the roads. Give yourself extra time to get places.

I don't think there are enough Triathletes to impact crowds at all. Besides, we are taking a nap and having celebration dinners afterwards.

This thread made me sad I'm not doing the Tri this year, but I have it planned for next year!

last year we were in Epcot when there was some type of marathon event going on. i'm not sure if it was the triathalon or not, but there were areas roped off. we had no idea what it was, but it didn't affect us at all. we just went about our day and occasionally cheered people on. it was fun
