LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- It's a tea party fit for a princess at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Youngsters can don their favorite dress-up costumes and enjoy tea filled with fantasy and delight at the new My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party offered in the Garden View Lounge beginning June 10.

Every Thursday through Monday from 10:30 a.m.-noon, little princesses will get the royal treatment with tea for two, deliciously decorative princess cakes, plus a personal meet-and-greet with Princess Aurora from the classic Disney animated film "Sleeping Beauty." The enchanting tea party is hosted by "Rose Petal," a magical rose from Aurora's garden that has come to life to lead storytelling, sing-alongs and a princess parade.

But that's just the beginning of the magical experience. Guests age 3-11 also receive a "My Disney Girl" collectible doll dressed in a matching Princess Aurora gown, plus accessories. Special princesses also take home their very own sparkling tiara, silver Princess link bracelet, rose, special princess scrapbook page, and a "Best Friend" certificate.

The cost for one adult and one child, ages 3-11, is $200, including gratuity. Each additional adult is $65, and $135 for each additional child. Reservations will be accepted beginning May 26 through 407/WDW-DINE.

What do you guys think?

For that price OUCH!!!

Sure hope my DD's don't hear about that!

Wow I better get a princess to take home for that amount of money!

No offense, but I think that's terribly expensive...

If that price is right, then Disney ought to be ASHAMED of themselves!

 It is pricey..but it will fill up in no time

:earseek: $200 for parent & child? I think that's dessert at V&A;)

Extremely pricey and utterly ridiculous.

AND DISNEY...WHAT ABOUT THE BOYS??????

They're very sexist sometimes. How about a lousy breakfast with Buzz and Woody and Peter Pan and that old Pirate from the Caribbean...Simba...Timon, Pumba....

Sick, sick, sick to death of those darn princesses!

<<------Boy Mommy feeling left out again...what til their weddings and I'm the forgotten "Mother of the Groom...."

Sounds great, except for the price! Ouch! I'd love to do it for dd, but at least half the price! More like $75 for us both, then I'd do it.

Back in October of 2003, they ran a pilot of this program at the Grand Floridian for a span of about 10 days. I was lucky enough to get DW and DD into the event and let me tell you they thought it was worth every penny.

Remember, this is the Grand Floridan tea room and the food and drinks are not of the 'standard' Disney fare. Just having tea there is an expensive affair. The hostess was just absolutely amazing. DW would gladly plunk down that same amount again, just because it was such a unique and fun experience.

Additionally you got special attention from Aurora - the kind you don't get when rushed through a breakfast or signature event.

Disney also accomodated a family that brought two boys - by getting them crowns and calling them Princes. Honestly, it is geared towards little girls, but the two boys still enjoyed themselves. I don't think they have an event like this for boys because parents aren't willing to spend the same $$$ on theirs boys in general. I assume that's why the villian dinner was canceled.

There are numerous threads on the the parks board from other DIS members that went to this, all applauding the event. Considering your have to pay $120 for a boat to see fireworks, I don't think this price is really out of line (and we never got a silver braclet like they are offering now).

If you would like to see pictures that DW took, you can see here

This sounds great, but I agree they're asking way to much for it.

The cost of the Illuminations Cruise is a bit much, but at least you can share that with others.

I also think they should add something for the boys. The villans dinners would have been great. I can't believe they had to cancel it because people complained about the way the villians would act. I wonder what these people were expecting.

This could be great debate board material! Therefore, I'll be kind...
I hope you just have DD's and not a DS too, or he must feel really bad and left out if you aren't willing to "spend the same $$$ on him in general!"
However, I can assure you that my 3 sons don't want for much. (Unfortunately.) Trust me when I tell you that lacrosse equipment, soccer equipment, hockey equipment, MLS soccer camp, and private baseball training are not cheap.

As far as a villian dinner...I'm sure it wasn't popular because young children were probably AFRAID of the villians, not because all the parents of boys had them locked in closets at the All Star Sports Hotel while they slid day old bread under the door.

I hope this is still going on in October. We missed the trial program of this by a week last time. I did watch the tea on our last day after checking out. It really looked wonderful and the hostess Rose Petal was really into her role. I can only hope that DD will want to go to this. She isn't into American Girl yet. She is only 5 so I will hold out hope that she gets into the dolls before our next trip!

jfulcer: Those photos are great!!

I agree the event is pricey, but that does not mean it should not be available for those who dont mind shelling out the $$!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

Great pictures, Jeff!

I hope this is still on is Sept! I'd love to take Brittany!!

(We're from the NYC area, so it's not that "expensive" to me.)

You know $200 is a lot but seeing those pictures of your dd having such a wonderful time, Im sure I would do it also (well that is if I had a girl or girls, lol).
