Spent the weekend at VGC (in a grand villa) and visited DCA on saturday and DL sunday morning with the southern california two days hopper pass. Went to upgrade to Premier Annual Pass. Was thinking about upgrading to Deluxe AP first and then when we get to WDW mid-May, then we would upgrade to the Premier. However, I guess we did not want to wait in another line to upgrade the AP, and opted just to get the Premier.

Anyone else purchased the Premier?

My sister and I just purchased the Premier Pass and the discounts alone were worth the extra cost for the ticket. We saved quite a bit during our recent trip to DL. Having the water parks included is another bonus if you are planning a trip to DW.

I have it, and my DH has one too! We got it in November when we got married in WDW, then we took our Honeymoon to DL in January, getting ready to head back to WDW next week, then again in September, and back to DL in October!!

We definately came out ahead with them!! The discounts are awesome too!! They are quite dangerous though.... you'll keep planning trips!! :rotfl:

My wife and I have the Premier Pass. We upgraded to it (from a normal WDW AP) in November because we knew we would be back to DLR before it expired. It made sense financially to buy the Premier Pass as opposed to buying two 4-day passes to DLR over the course of the year. The extra discounts are just a bonus for us.

We are planning to visit WDW two times this year. Once in May for 9 nights and then in November for 6 nights. So, we were contemplating only getting the regular WDW annual pass for DVC members. Then, we were able to secure a few studios/Grand Villas at VGC and opted to get the Premier pass.

On a side note, I thought the expiration date should be based on the first day of use on the hopper tickets and not the day of upgrade. We used our two days hopper ticket on April 21st and April 22nd, and then upgraded our hopper to the Premier A/P on April 22nd. The expiration for our Premier A/P is April 22nd. It does seem weird to me. If the expiration was based on the date of upgrade, then we should of waited.

Congrats!!!

Our DLR DLX AP's expired last month but we do have WDW AP's good until next January. We plan on upgrading them to Premier on our next visit to DLR in the next month or so.

By the way, do we still have to do the biometric finger scan at WDW theme parks or is it now like Disneyland that a picture would popped up at the gate when A/P is scanned?

wait I have a premiere annual pass at DLR does that mean it is also good at any WDW theme park? plus do I get food and merchandise discounts at WDW too? no blackouts?

Is it a Premier that cost $749? That is the one good at DLR and WDW. There are much more limited discounts at WDW, but some. With an AP there you can buy a Table in Wonderland card that gets you 20% off your total dining bill in some locations. No blockout dates.

If it was the $499 DLR AP that's a premium DLR AP. No blockout dates.

Each system is different. So when you go to WDW you use the scanners. When you AP is from DLR it needs a photo associated with it to be seen when it's scanned.

If you have the "Premier" A/P it is good at both coasts and is treated as a "Premium" A/P. However, if you have the "Premium", it is for one coast.

As A/P holder, you are entitled a $25 discount off of the $100 membership fee for Table in Wonderland ($50 for an additional card holder). Each card would provide discount for up to 12 diners.

I guess I was getting the Premiere and Premium mixed up. I paid $499 for my annual pass, I didn't even see one available for both parks. Oh well we want to go to Florida but I guess it isn't worth it.
Thanks for the clear up

You can upgrade your Premium A/P to the Premier A/P. The $749 does not include a 6.5% tax on half the amount (FL impose a sales tax on entertainment while CA does not; CA thought about it), so add another $24.34 to the price. The total comes to $773.34 for the Premier.

Then by paying upgrade fee of $274.34 (difference between the $773.34 and $499) to get "hopper" days at WDW is not bad if you were going to be there for 5 days.

I'm planning to activate my Premium AP at DLR late next month for a couple of trips there this year. I'm also planning to take 2 trips to WDW early next year. Just curious, if I upgrade to a Premier pass at DLR on my last trip will I still pay the sales tax as I would if I upgraded at WDW on my first trip?

Yes. If you get a premier AP upgrading another or brand new, you have to pay half the Florida sales tax. It doesn't matter if you do it in DLR or WDW, the sales tax is collected for Florida.

I have a premier AP but my DD doesnt. I'm planning on upgrading her DL DAP to premier when we go to go to WDW next month, but it sounds like it would be cheaper to upgrade at DL. We will be at DL in 3 wks . It sounds like DL doesn't charge tax? Is that right?

Thank You!

Just like what skiingfast said on the pp that you have to pay the Florida sales tax for purchasing or upgrading to the premier AP at DL or WDW. When I renew my premier AP at DL last year, I had to pay the Florida sales tax.
