It seems that it’s time to remove all those little extras that were added to the castle for the Happiest Celebration On Earth which officially ends on September 30th. I have been informed that after removing all the HCOE decorations, they will repaint the entire castle as well as use this time period to build that special Castle Bedchamber room into the penthouse. The long rehab will actually begin on September 10th when they will bring in a large crane that will live next to the castle for the next couple of months, surrounded by construction walls at the base somewhere between Sir Mickey’s and the Fairy Tale Gardens, where the walkway will also be closed off. The HCOE decorations will be removed between September 10th to 13th and painting is scheduled to take from September 19th until December 5th.

HOWEVER - there is conflicting information as to the end date of the rehab, but most sources are suggesting the exterior (and therefore the only bits we get to see) will be completed by 10th october.

ALSO - no word posted on Disney's own website for operational updates, but it has been mentioned by a couple of CM's on enquiry.... therefore, date / length of rehab subject to change.

Last time the castle was redecorated, the crane was barely visible from the front with construction walls around it at a low level during opening hours so not noticeable at all really, IMO.

I just hope they keep the paint job traditional, will be nice to have a fresh coat of paint for it,

I can live without the mirror but I like all the figures around the castle. Hopefully it won't be another 'birthday cake'

OMG this is not what I want to hear when we are due to have our wedding pic's taken on the morning of the 22nd September in front of the castle!!

Now I need to email my wedding planner!! :scared1:

You may get more firm advice on what is actually happening - I assume wedding planners would know if there was anything going on to disrupt there plans

I liked the figures round the turrets too :thumbsup2 Hope the refurb is not too radical. Maybe it is just to freshen up the paintwork?

Hey Sam! I emailed my wedding planner too! and if you want it i have an email for Disney Photography directly! email if u want it!

Laura - I just spoke to my WP and she said that Disney photography are going to call me later! do me a favour and send me the email so if they don't call I will drop them a line.
My WP doesn't really seem to know much.

I was going to complain because this will be my DM-I-L's first and maybe only trip and I didn't want her to see it like that... But I can't quite feel right about complaining when there are people with wedding pics possibly wrecked by it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys.

Sam ive emailed you the email address! Hope you get it sorted!
Im not having my pictures taken there till the 8th December so i hope it will be sorted by then!

I'm certain any refurb will be kept to a minimum, please don't let it upset your plans, we were there last year when the main street station was undergoing refurb and was under a canopy/scaffolding, its a shame but theres sooo much else to enjoy

Just to let you all know, i have spoken to my disney wedding planner and the story is that the decos are going to be taken down mind september and the work will be starting on the new "bedchamber". There is going to be a crane on site but she said that they do their best to ensure that the castle still keeps its "magical" appearance as much as poss! Im still waiting to hear from Magic Kingdom Photography about how it will affect my wedding pics but looks like all will be ok.

I really wouldnt let it ruin anyones plans, im sure no matter how much work is going on at the castle, as Carol said there is so much more to enjoy!!

Thanks Laura,
I not to worried about the crane they can take the pictures so the crane is behind the castle, I'm more worried about the boarding! they can't exactly hide that!

Don't panic too much - they will do their best to sort something out. The day we were scheduled for our 7am shoot they were rehearsing Cinderellabration. They called to let me know and said I could either keep the slot or switch to another day - luckily we were staying for another week so we switched it...ended up with the 6am slot and it was a freezing cold November morning, but we both loved every second of it

At least you have a few months to sort it out :goodvibes

I am sure I read somewhere that the figures on the castle are moving to Paris as part of its 15 year Birthday next year, can't find a link now though to back it up!

So you don't want it to be painted pink again like it was a few years ago? :rotfl2:
