Like I said. If they can get in and out of Port Canaveral I highly doubt they will cancel. They may change the ports or stay at sea, but they won't need to cancel...

It is a mistaken assumption that because rescheduling things would be a logistical nightmare DCL will cancel anything. Logistical nightmares are still less costly than cancelling and they are going to do everything they can to make every single cruise happen. I think people are going to be surprised at the lengths all cruise lines are going to go to in keeping the ships sailing. That goes for the islands too. I can't say how or what will happen in the next weeks with the islands hit, but when their main source of income is tourism then bringing that back is a top priority second only to saving lives.

For your average cruise out of PC they refuel in PC.
Also every ship sets sail with enough supplies for twice the length of the cruise (so on a 7 day, enough supplies for 14 days and a 3 day enough for 6).
So as long as PC/Florida pulls through, other islands aren't really an issue in that respect.

Well I have never heard of a 7 day cruise at sea only ( unless I guess your sailing a repositioning cruise). So DCL will have to port somewhere. If they can only sail to CC I hope they give the option for people to cancel. I know Disney does not want to lose money but I also did not pay for a sea only cruise. It will be interesting to see what happens.

They can sail and not port, it is up to them do decide.
They can decide not to offer re-booking options. They can decide to go to other ports. In the end they decide what is safest and best.
I wouldn't mind 7 days on a ship without ports, sure beats being in Houston or Barbuda, St Maarten, UVI, PR, Turks, Cuba....... or even at my desk working (kind of) right now.

but they can go to no ports if they want...although i think they have to at least go to one non-US port per cruise...
but i'd be more than willing to go on a no-port cruise...the ship's my destination in any case...

Another factor DCL needs to consider is how many of the port workers are going to make it to work. Ticket agents, security guards, customs agents, fork lift drivers, dock workers, fuel pump operators, parking lot attendants, bellhops, janitors, maintenance people....all the behind the scenes people that don't live on the ship but are essential to getting it loaded and sent out to sea. If your house is flooded....going to work is the last thing from your mind. I think I'd call in sick (or flooded) and take care of my home and my family.

This would actually make me very happy - but have they ever sailed to Canada from Florida before? I know the previous cruise that was rerouted to Canada originally left from New York, correct? So for those of us scheduled to leave out of Port Canaveral that would seem like a long way to travel from Florida to Canada.

I'm on the 9/23 Eastern and I'm hoping they turn it into a Bermuda cruise...that is, if Bermuda doesn't get walloped by Jose. Stressful!!! I am never booking a cruise during hurricane season again no matter how cheap it is!

So, they have a plan in place for next fall. Would that allow them to travel to Bermuda this fall? I would guess the berthing spaces are already allotted for this year.

No. I was just stating that they have them planned. Those will be the first in 2018.

Ok, Looking at the Devastation to the Islands DCL travels to on an Eastern trip. Sigh, Those people need assistance. I doubt they need 3k tourists wandering about their islands gawking at the damage. So, I'm not DCL corp. I expect they have contingencies for just such an occurrence. Yes? I mean they are paying staff to come up with this sort of thing. I'm totally sure, So does RCCL, Carnival, etc. So,, DCL hits what islands in the Caribbean? List them for me please. I'm just a Western DCL member. Twice,,, thought we'd get the girls on an eastern this time. Looks like less than good luck at that. If they wander about the Caribbean on a DCL ship is a WHOLE LOT better than my day to day routine. I get my grandchildren for a week alone. Ok, BFF comes along. The 5 of us have a great time. No matter where,,, SO,, as long as Fantasy sails 9/23, we'll be on her. Just us? Way too cool, aqueduck here we come. LOL,, its all good. I do wonder IF, God willing ,, then where is secondary for us. I'm picky to our cabin, I'm picky on the cruise lines we sail, but I'm not picky as to the island we land or do not land at. Happy Friday,, Irma love ya, but go away!

Bermuda has limited berthing. Just 2 spaces at Naval Dockyard for cruise ships. They are allotted for the season. There are 5 ships that make regular calls in Bermuda (2 NCL, 2 RCCL and 1 Celebrity). There are a number of other ships that make 1-6 visits each year. (Mostly 1 or 2 visits per ship.)The season ends very soon. Bermuda is approximately 665 mile east-southeast of the Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Their winter has average temperatures in the 60s. It has a subtropical climate. (I am addicted to the PTztv webcams.)
So Bermuda is not really an option. When we boarded the Magic in 2004 for a western cruise we were informed that we would be changed to a 'modified' eastern-San Juan, PR and St. Thomas, USVI due to a storm that was moving into the western Caribbean. When we boarded after our day in San Juan we were informed that another storm was headed to St. Thomas so we were rerouted again to Nassau.
The Leeward Islands are bracing for Hurricane Jose this weekend. With Barbuda destroyed they are trying to evacuate the entire island population before Jose hits. St. Martin is also devastated with folks in shelters that are severely damaged. St. Thomas, USVI as well as the British VI are also suffered catastrophic damage. It looks like none of these islands will be able to host cruise cruise ships for a vry long time. And tourism is the basis of their economies. Pray for those who are suffering and trying to stay safe from another devastating storm.
