We just passed ROFR and the broker tells us that we will get the closing documents via email in 7-14 days once the closing company receives the estoppels for the owners' account. How much longer until we can officially close and book a reservation. We will have to use 210 banked 09 points by May 31.

"use" means "stay" so you will need to complete your stay by may 31.

it will probably take a few days after the close to be able to call and book something.

i would be very flexible as to what you are willing to accept - SSR is the largest resort and 1BRs are the easiest villa type to book - you might need to hop around and stay at one resort for 2 nights here and move to another for 3 nights there...but you never know what might be available at any given time...

Congratulations! It looks like you have a trip coming up soon! Keep us updated on what you eventually book. Welcome Home!

We are very flexible, and I understand that availability will be limited, but I still don't have a firm closing date. The minute that I can talk to member services I will be on it. I knew when we made the offer that the points would have to be used quickly, but I thought that the process could be expedited after Disney signed off. Any insights on how quickly this can move and I can make a reservation would be appreciated.

Thanks; and congratulations to you, as well. I see that you just recently passed ROFR. Is this yourt first contract?

It depends upon how quickly the selling DVC Owner signs and returns any needed closing documentation.

Based on our last purchase which was a resale, it took roughly a month to use the points from the date that we passed ROFR.

Good lucK!

Ugh we got waived a week ago, returned our docs first thing Monday with a wire for the amount, the sellers returned their papers Thursday and we are waiting for Disney to report that the points are all in order. The closing co says maybe Monday, but then Disney had 5 days to create our account! We have 09 points that are expiring too so I hope they hurry!

This is our second contract. We bought 100 BLT points last summer, and then addonitis happened :rotfl: I already have our 2011 BLT points used up. While we don't have any 09 points to use quickly, I am patiently waiting for our new contract to hit the account so we can make a weekend trip in the next month or so.

We passed ROFR on the 4th of this month and I was just able to make our first reservations yesterday (18th) -- but I think that was very fast. We got our papers from the closing company 6 days after passing ROFR. We (and apparently the sellers as well) sent them back right away. We closed the day after the closing company got all the papers back and then we were in the Disney system 3 days later.

Congratulations on passing ROFR! Enjoy your upcoming trip!

That's great to hear. I had the same question as the original post.

We passed ROFR on 2/4 (Fri). I received my closing documents within a few days (2/8 Tue) but due to financing issues just got the check to the closing company 2/18 (Fri). They said the closing would go through soon and then Disney would get us our membership info in 5-7 business days.

Looking forward to booking our first DVC trip.

I can share my timeline as we were in the "batch" of contracts that passed ROFR on 2/4 and received our closing docs on 2/8 as well.
I was prompt in sending my closing papers and payment via two day fed ex. The sellers papers were received 2/11, and the title company closed the file on 15th.

As part of closing packing, the buyer fills out a new buyer information form, email, phone, etc... I was surprised to find out on friday 2/18, I received an automated email with an access key to DVCmember site (I still needed to call member services to get my membership number) When I logged into DVCmember, my account was set up and the points were not - don't panic like I did, the points were added (or the system updated) by 8 PM later that night.

I hope this helps out as to what to expect, it seems that things ran smoothly without any interventions :) Good luck !

I had a similar experience as a new resale owner and got a little nervous, too. Our information was in the system for a few days before our points were transferred in. Evidently it's two different processes done by two separate departments and not unusual for one to take longer than the other. I think I called back 3 days in a row after I was in the system before my points were finally available to make a reservation.
