Just over a month out, what are my chances?

I would love some opinions! After joining DVC this Spring we invited my ILs to join us on our trip in Sept. We got our points with just 5 months to go, and because my FIL has bad knees and I know would not be happy walking long distances from an elevator we chose OKW.

So we reserved a 2BR at OKW. Well, fast forward a few months (and past some inconsideration on the part of my ILs) and we are once again traveling as a family of 4. DH, me, 5yo DD and almost 2yo DS.

So what would you do? Keep a 2BR for a family of 4 for 5 nights? Drop it to a 1BR and see if we can add an extra night? See if a 1BR is available at another resort?

We have an Oct UY so we will lose pts if we change to anything less than 130pts. But BWV, SSR, BCV, AKV, WLV and BLT-S all have options pt wise. But what are my chances of getting into a 1BR somewhere besides OKW?

What would be the best bet if I chose to waitlist? I am thinking it may be fun just to put BLT-S down with no expectation for it to come through. But what if I want to increase the likelihood I would get the WL? We have only stayed at AKV and without the savanna view. decisions decisions....

If you think that you would love to try BLT, put it down as a WL. If VWL is your 2nd choice, put that down too!

If you really want to get the others, you can try by calling every so often to see what you can do in terms of changing to BCV or BWV.

Wow what rotten luck on your first extended family reservation. But it could work out for your immediate family, especially if you get an extra day at WDW because of it.

If you don't want to spoil your family with a 2BR, then I'd call MS and see if you can get the days you want and not lose any of your points. What would it hurt?

FYI, it's doubtful at this late date that a Std view villa will be available at BLT.

When I just looked at the Availability Thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2299458, there were very few reports of no availability at BWV for everything except for Std. view Studios and 2 BRs. Like I thought BLT's STD view looks full. But on further review, several of the resorts you mentioned look like they have openings. Now this thread does not guarantee a villa is available but it does look promising. I call MS and see what you can get.

Don't delay. Call MS asap and try to go with a one bedroom and add the extra night. You'll never know if there is anything truly available until you call, but every day you hem and haw over this you loose another chance at grabbing any availability. Please keep this in mind, when you are looking at changing your reservation there is a slight risk......if you don't have enough points to cover both rooms (old and new) MS will need to cancel your current reservation before making the new one. During this process the new room you wanted could be taken by someone else (yes it happens that quickly and yes this has happened to many) and the old one is taken by someone else and you have nothing. So, when you call MS and if they tell you there is available one bedrooms, ask how many before making the decision. Be ready to make the decision right away, because if you call back an hour later it could be very different.

Even if your WL does not come through, you'll enjoy OKW and wow will you have the space there!!!!

Thanks for the pixie dust! I have a feeling I am going to need it for either of those! I won't be disappointed to stay at OKW, but I would think we would be so spoiled with the space it will be hard to stay in a 1 BR or even a studio on later trips

Yes, you will be spoiled because the 2-bedroom villas at okw are huge. Did you try to add a day at okw in a 1-bedroom villa?

This is exactly what I was able to do! I was so happy that OKW had all 6 nights available in a 1BR (our 2BR was dedicated), and we even got the HH category!

I did put a WL in for a 1BR standard view at BWV, we can cover 6 nights there as well with 130pts, but it's a long shot this close to the date.

I am so relieved to have it finalized!!! We will be at OKW a month from TODAY!!!!
