Expect to spend a lot of time at the App Store! If not for all the cool apps, there really isn't much reason to want one any more than a regular iPod. I have about 125 apps, most of which cost 99 cents, but I do have one that cost $13. And there are lots of free "lite" versions of apps.
When I first got mine, before the app store was online, I think, I was sorry to have bought it. Now, I absolutely love it.
I love my IPOD touch. I have had mine for about 1 month now. My brothers gave it to me for my BIG birthday. ( I am not saying which one. ) It is so much more than a regular IPOD. I have all of my pictures on it so it is like a portable photo album. You can down load movies. I down loaded Mary Poppins and Singin in the Rain. 2 of my favorites. You can download books. The books I downloaded were either free or 99cents. This came in handy last week when my car was being serviced for 3 hours. I pulled out the IPOD and finished reading Robinson Crusoe. There are apps where you can download the bible in many versions. Some of the games are fun. Also you have WIFI capability. Internet access where there is WIFI--for free. Not to mention the podcasts you can download. The DIS unplugged is great. So yes it is so much more than the IPOD that you have now. You will not be disappointed. I love mine I am sure you will love yours too! Enjoy!!!!!
Mine was a Christmas gift from my DH. I LOVE my iPod Touch. The wi-fi is GREAT, love the aps, spend WAY to much time on the silly little thing. And it was truly a wonderful thing to have last week after my surgery. I watched a movie, played some games, and I listened to a lot of music. It's a great little gadget! Have fun!
Be prepared to become totally addicted to this thing!! In a good way. First, be sure to get a wireless connection in your home. I don't use mine for music, I use it to connect to the internet, check email throughout the day, send email, check the headlines on my favorite news stations, locally and CNN (you can make them on your home page), check my bank account for balance updates, oh there's so much. But you've gotta have that connection, otherwise its kind of useless other than just music. Also, when you shop for apps right on the itouch, be sure to check out the free ones first. I haven't spent a dime yet and I've had mine since last Christmas. The free ones are tremendous, like the Weather Channel, so many more! I loved mine so much that I just got an Iphone and gave my Touch to my DH. He is lovin it!!! Enjoy it. Its a blast. A small warning, when you get it be prepared to not see your family for a week, you'll see why.
It honestly depends on you. What would you be using it for, thousands of song storage, tons of movie downloads, etc? Then you need alot of storage space, bigger than 8GB. I personally don't do any of that right now, I use mine pretty much for the internet. So I don't need lots and lots of space. So its really a personal thing.
As I say, i'm still using my classic for the majority of my music (it's 30GB) but the Touch i'm going to use more as a gadget with a few albums, apps and maybe tv shows.
