Has anyone done this?Instead of ordering starter, main course, dessert just order 3or4 starters and matbe a dessert or 2 and then just share them. They wouldn't mind would they?I just thought that this would be a good idea if you weren't on any dining plan and you wanted to experience some of the restaurants but couldn't afford the whole 3course meal.I'm sure some of the startrers are big enough to be a meal in themselves.:)

Yup, I have just ordered the appetizers before for my main meal. It really makes no difference to them considering they get their money either way. There have been times that I just was not hungry enough to eat a complete main course, so the appetizer was just the perfect size. I have even gone to Brown Derby just for the grapefruit cake.

When I go to Kona my meal tends to be just the Chicken Wings appetizer. It is 12 wing pieces and a good amount of salad. It can make a very filling meal.

If you are not on the dining plan, you don't have to order the "whole 3 course meal" - you can order whatever you want, whether it be several appetizers and desserts or just an entree and not an appetizer or dessert. It is completely up to you.

That's we did - and will do again - at Spoodles. We ordered 4 different appetizers, had them brought all together and shared. No one complained!

at Chef's de France too. Order the onion soup and the escargot...and of course, dessert!!

I have never done this at WDW but we do this at the Cheesecake Factory and Chilis all the time

Since you won't be on the DDP, you can order whatever you want. Even if you were on the DDP, as other posters have mentioned, you would probably be able to order 1 appetizer as your appetizer for the plan and 1 appetizer as your entree. I have not done this personally, but I have read that other posters do this and haven't encountered a problem.

We haven't done this at WDW, but we do it all the time at restaurants at home and at Citywalk. And not even an appetizer to share. DH will order an entree, and I'll order an appetizer as my entree. Some things are just huge, like nachos and quesadillas -- more than enough for one person to eat as their meal.

We do this in Mexico just about every trip. We usually have breakfast and an ADR for dinner so to fit it in we stop and order a couple marg. and an app. or two. we have never had a problem. It's a great way to try a new place and to have a snack w/out eating counter service.

If you are not on the dining plan you can order anything and everything that you want. After all, you're paying for it. :goodvibes

That sounds like a good idea because sometimes the appies look a whole lot more appealing than the main courses. I'm going to try that when we go.

Me again - does anyone know if the Cantina at Mexico will have nachos "to go"? I'd love to take some back to the hotel for a late night munch after a busy day.

Us, too! For the 3 of us, we usually get 4 appetizers and 1 dessert. Perfect amount of food, and we get to try lots of things. Spoodles used to have an even better array of appetizers- they used to emphasize Tapas- but they still have some nice ones. We like the Mediterranean Dips, Lamb rolls, and Flatbread. Yum!!

Too funny, that's exactly what we got !! The calamari was very good too. None of the entrees are appealing to us on the menu, we spent about the same amount we would have if we'd both chosen an entree.

The food at Cantina is served in takeout boxes, so everything can be ordered "to go".

Love the calamari!! We're glad to see it back on the menu- for a while, it was removed. DD8 used to love it- until my Mom told her what it was. Now, she won't touch it anymore. Oh, well- more for us!:cool1:

I would definitely ask your server about the size of starters. Some were definitely big enough to share (like nachos at WCC) but some especially the pricier ones seemed to have small quantities (we got only 4 shrimp in a shrimp cocktail or 1 crab cake for example).

Yvonne

We fancy doing this at some of the places we haven't been to before, like Raglan Road,Bongos, and House of Blues.
