Just off the Magic-Thoughts

Just off the Magic 4-night, A few thoughts:

Stateroom: First time EVER with a verandah. It was nice. I think I would be just as happy without one. Next time, I will save the money and stick with deck 2. I just didn't utilize it as much as I thought I would. .

Try Deck 5 Forward. We really like 5510. Also a few obstructed view cabins 5520 and a couple next door - vary degrees of obstruction that classed as a CAT 10. We've tried a verandah once as well - but quite happy with a oceanview cabin.

Love the Magic. Sept 20 can't come soon enough.

We're done with the early breakfasts. Our plan next time is to pick up some sweet rolls, fruit, cereal the next to last day and just eat in our room that morning.

This is what we did... we ordered coffee the night before, had the ice bucket filled w/choc milk and regular milk (in containers! LOL!) and then one of my teens ran up to Cabanas for add'l food (no recollection what)/drinks (juice maybe?) and it worked out GREAT! For us, it's the best way to do it!

Was your refrigerator not working? I keep hearing two different answers on whether or not they have replaced the Magic's "cooling boxes" with real fridges.

There are mini-fridges on the Magic now. I kept my bottled water for the beach inside, and punch from the fountain drink dispensers in mine.

Glad to read this - we've booked 5510 and 5512.

Fridge did not seem like a real fridge like on the Fantasy... I am a bit freak-ish about warm (or anything other than ice cold) milk, so I kept it in a bucket of ice... we kept fruit, cheese, yogurt in the "fridge" and it seemed fine...

Had a real fridge on the Magic. It was not frost-free. It had ice accumulating in the top part, and was close to needing to be defrosted.

Stateroom host was Jonathan (we were in 6106) Serving Team were Juan Carlos (server) and Kenloy (Asst. Server). Kenloy entertained my boys with a couple of magic tricks. pixiedust:

We just got off the Magic as well!! It was our first cruise!! We had an amazing time! Great room host, great servers, we ate in the MDR on last day, embarking and disembarking was easy! Kids club was AMAZING: I have a child with mild CP and delays and done sensory issues and she had a blast!! One if our best experiences even with being a bit seasick that first night!

My family and I were on this cruise a had a blast! Great shows, great service. Our MDR server Mario, made origami for the kids, my stateroom host, Shaka, assembled my son's Lego's and arranged them on our dressing table/desk area. He even created a bridge from one table to the next with some tubes we discarded. He balanced the figures on the tubes so some of his figures were "crossing the brigde". My son (9) was so thrilled to come back to the room and see what our host did with his Legos. Shaka rocked! We were in aft inside cabin 2101. Convenient to main dining rooms, no need to wait for elevators to the 3rd floor--we just took the stairs.

There were crab races on Castaway Cay, Name that Movie game poolside for kids and the Magician put on a magic workshop the night after his show.
There were Krispy Kreme donuts at Cabanna's for breakfast. I did notice Cabanna's was not open for dinner. I don't remember this being the case for my previous DCL cruises. The new Navigator app for smartphones was free to use with the ship's wifi (in airplane mode) and listed MDR menus, movies and
activities ect.

Booked on board for next year (and this time I did not plan to). I looked into taking a cruise on RCL's Quantum instead of DCL prior to this cruise with the changes to onboard booking benefits, but my 9 year-old will never get this sort of kid-centered experience on any other line. I figure we can cruise the other lines when he is older. Even though I stalk these boards, I did not realize you can only move your OBB date once:crazy2:. I knew about the 18 month window to use it, and no more 10% deposit for cruises of less than 7 days, but I did not realize I could only move it once. I moved it while I was still onboard, but that did not count, ha!;)

Glad you had a great time, but I wanted to mention, we never had any of those problems on our two Dream cruises. Both times we got to the port just before 11:30am and walked right on the ship as soon as we were done with check-in. Also, our dinners weren't slow at all. I know you're just telling your experience, but I don't want people think that is the norm on the Dream.

When we sailed the Dream in 2011 it was the most chaotic experiences I ever had. It was very unlike the Wonder or the 2013 Fantasy embarkation.

I hope it has improved...

We were on the Dream in October 2011 and November 2012 and everything went very smoothly. Never had to wait in any lines at the port and walked right on the ship and up to Cabanas for lunch before noon. I guess all the issues were taken care of before we cruised.

How was the Aqua Dunk? How long was the line on average?

We didn't do this, kids were not interested. I did walk by on the Sea Day and the sign posted stated "40 minute wait from this point". I can't remember what time of day or how it was the rest of the cruise.

I have moved my OBB probably 10 times. I don't think there is limit to moving it.

There is a new rule that an OBB has to be used within a certain amount of time (think it's 18 months).

Does anyone coming off the Magic know if adults can ride the Twist and Spout? I wasn't sure, I thought they said they were able o before, not sure if they were still allowing it. Thanks. :)
