We just got off the Magic, April 21, just wondering if anyone else heard the loud bangs about 1:30 Friday morning? The sea was very rough and we just wanted to know what the noise was. Our room was in the middle of deck 2 on the port side. Thanks
The ship was definitely rocking that night! It was like a roller coaster.
We were on Deck 7 Forward, port side. DH said that he thought he heard banging that AM, but thought it was the safe door banging against the closet door. I guess it wasn't. I can't imagine what it could've been.
When I was on the Star Princess we had some rough seas and we kept hearing loud bangs. I don't think it was something wrong with the Magic, it must just be something that happens to the ships in rough waters.

What did the bangs sound like? Metal against metal? Explosion? If the seas were very rough it might have been unsecured closet doors in neighboring staterooms. Happened to us one night and scared the bejeebus out of us.
We cruised the Eastern New Years 2003/04 and about 3 am Friday morning I heard a lot of loud bangs, like something hitting the bottom of the ship, and we were all the way on deck 7. Maybe it's the currents.
On one cruise I was on where the seas where a little rough our closet doors kept sliding open and shut and banging as they did. The velcro did not hold them closed. We ended up putting pillows in between the door and the jab so they did not keep banging. If perhaps the cabin next to you was empty or the occupants where still out partying, maybe their doors banging was what the noise was.

It was the WAVES!!! I was on an E. Caribbean last Nov, it sounded like a herd of elephants being loaded off of a trailer. I got up one night to see if we still had a veranda, as I thought for sure we had lost it in one of the crashes.

I am curious. When we cruised in Nov. we had a terrible night the last night starting about 10 when we hit the currents. This seems to be the norm from reading this post. Is this true? The only reason I ask is that a few years back we took a RCL 3 day from PC to Nassau and never felt the ship move the entire trip. Seriously, we cruised in May of 03 and it was smooth coming, going everywhere we went. Was that just luck? Or has the global warming changed the current over the last few years... (have to ask Al about it if so)
