Just Off The Fantasy

Our head waiter was Cedomir, who we didn't see a ton but in my experience you never see them a lot just a quick "hello how was your day" each night. Our server was Onur and he was outstanding, he was funny and great with all the kids in our group, he did magic tricks with them and made them dolls out of napkins. He was always very conscious of people's allergies and had great insight about what was the best thing to order that night. Our assistant server was Suki who was a little shy but always brought drinks before you were even done and asked if we needed anything. Lastly our stateroom attendant was Shena who was such a delight. Whenever she saw me in the hallway she'd ask how I was and how the room was and if there was anything she could do to make my stay better, definitely made it feel like home. Overall my interactions this cruise were very positive and very memorable.

I was actually asking about the Cruise Staff Team, who work for the Cruise Director running all of the family and adult activities on board like trivia, dance parties, karaoke, bingo, etc. They usually are wearing red and blue striped shirts with white pants/shorts.

Did you stay at a WDW resort? If so, did you do DCL transfers? If so, what time did the transfer bus pick you up (and get to the port)?

We are sailing on the fantasy at the end of this month. For the one's with late dining, can you still experience the pirate party or do you get cut short to go eat?

We always do late dining and never had a problem making the pirate party. Your servers know everyone wants to get out and up on deck so they tend to move things along. We usually skip dessert that night to get out even earlier and then grab something for dessert at the buffet after the pirate party.

Overall I think the ship looks really good especially for a ship that is four years old. There's definitely just wear and tear things that need to be done like replace the carpets on the stairs or I thought that the turf on the mini golf was looking a little tired but overall it was pretty clean. In a perfect world these would happen but..
1.) I would say that an enhancement that should be made is more pool space, which I know is probably near impossible, but I felt like there was so much seating for the adult area and the family pool and mickey pool were squished into this small area with not a ton of seating and the pools were always packed.
2.) I can also picture them redoing part of the kids club and adding features that are in ships like the Magic or the Dream that have received enhancements in dry dock like the Avengers lab, I'd say to take out the submarine thing with the computers but hey that's me.
3.) Something that I'd love to see happen too just personally is the Royal Court to get a new theme, its my least favorite restaurant, I just don't think it has as much to offer as the Enchanted Garden or Animator's Palate, it feels a little Royal Caribbean plus some princess murals to me.
4.) My last pipe dream is for Cabana's to have a better flow, I've been on other ships where its more of stations than a line. I've been told by people on here that it's supposed to be fluid and you can just hop in and grab as you please but I would say its just human nature to form a line when its this type of set up and even if I know that, the guy in front of me who's taking 20 minutes to pick out a doughnut and the three people behind him don't.

Thanks for the insight. Carpets are a good indication of wear. When we were on the Magic a few years ago, there was a contracting crew on board and they were replacing the minigolf turf one hole at a time. Pretty interesting guys. It did take them about a day to pull one hole and re cover it, and then usually get the next hole uncovered. They had to remove all of the objects from each hole too.

Re: 3) Royal Court. I was actually thinking it would be enchanted garden that would get axed and reimagined. The Wonder is getting a new place that isn't Carioca's. So it looks like Disney wants to keep the fancy Prince and Princess dining, and the main glitzy dining room as the homage to ships of yesteryear.

I agree with Cabanas needing some sort of control, I always end up feeling bad jumping people who are taking a million years, but then I realize I'm doing everyone a favor by moving things along!

Thanks for your thoughts. I hope it isn't too long before you sail again!

We're going to sail the Fantasy in a few months and the thing I keep hearing from people that have been on it is that the sheer size of the ship will blow you away when you first see it in person. Everyone has seen pictures, and obviously you know you're not going on a little boat, but when you are standing at the terminal looking at it, it's huge. Does it make that kind of impression?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

The pirate party on our cruise was at 7:45, it says on the Navigator that it only goes until 8:15 which would be enough time to do both I would say. We had the second seating three years ago and went to the pirate party and made it to dinner on time. I felt like they were good about making sure that it was timed correctly so that people were able to do both, I also felt like there was a bit more of a grace period that night just in case you were a few extra minutes at the party or needed to stop by your stateroom.
That information will help us make are decision.
Thank you

Was there a Royal Court princess tea? If yes, what day was it offered? TIA

We are also going on the Fantasy in 2 weeks..... Kids were wondering what Movies were shown? Dory, Captain America or ?

Don't remember any specific names, didn't have as much personal interaction with them.

We stayed at the Villas at the Grand Floridian on our DVC points. Some of our party was at the regular GF and some of our party was at the Contemporary. We didn't do Disney transfers though, we rented two vans from Tiffany Town Car instead. I find that this is cheaper by a little bit and allows you to be dropped off at your desired time (for us the earlier the better) rather than the time Disney tells you. We were also able to stop at Publix to pick up some wine for the adults to bring onboard which we wouldn't have been able to do with Disney either.

5Texans, I know you were asking OP about royal court tea but thought I would let you know on our upcoming cruise Sept 3rd on Fantasy the Royal Court princess tea is being offered on Grand Cayman day and also on the 2nd sea day (we chose the sea day). Just thought I would let you know its still being offered and we booked online for this when our window opened

We will have this same itinerary, 4 days at WDW, then 7 days Western C. cruise!
Did you have any younger kids in your group? And if so, what types of strollers did you use at WDW, and were they a pain to stow on board in your stateroom?

Thanks so much cheermom! Im still not sure if my girls are going to do it, but it's good to know when it might be offered. Also glad they're offering online booking so I don't have to run around the ship on embarkation day.
