Definitely was a very busy cruise with all of the Merrytime activities added in. They did have hot chocolate and cookies in the atrium the last night.

I think a lot of the crew just got back from vacation so some things felt "off". The assistant cruise director "hosted" the sail away party and hosted the adult activities in Evolution :-(

Water was frigid at Castaway and very windy. There were people in the water but we just laid in hammock all day. The weather was gorgeous otherwise.

We did an aft extended veranda this time (9672). LOVED the extra space and the loungers. The motion was rough at some times (and a lot of vibrations when docking from the thrusters) but would defend do again.

Tickets for the gingerbread house making are available at both guest services and port adventures. You don't have to wait for the port adventures desk to open, just go straight to guest services. For the 3 night they had, 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30 on Saturday. It was super fun!

They did not have the traditional "See ya real soon" at the end. It was modified for Christmas (you do still get the last 15 minutes with the characters but they don't sing the song they normally sing).

Feel free to ask questions and I'll answer what I can.

We are doing the 3 night Merry Time Christmas sailing next December! We were on the 4 night dream October 31 to November 4, and it did sound like a lot of CMs were heading on vacation at the end of our sailing. Wonder if they downsize the number on board during the not-so-popular months. We have an extended veranda (9174) next December, looking forward to it!

I'm very curious to hear from people that sail after me if they get an actual "club host"

How funny that the water was cold at Castaway Cay. We are sailing for the first time 11/17/17 for 3day. How cold does it get at night? I am thinking this may be a freezing cruise. Lol. How was it for you?

The weather itself was absolutely beautiful. Just chilly water and around the mid 70's as far as the air temp. We had a wonderful time just lounging on the beach.

I will report in on Monday the 5th after our quickie cruise on Friday. :) We are Platinum this trip, so hopefully I will be able to snag tickets for a Gingerbread house session as soon as we board.

Glad you had a great cruise!

We just hit gold as of today (in only 14 months since our first cruise lol)

It took us a little under 3 years to hit 10 so your average is really good! :) You will love the Fantasy and feel like you are at home... in fact it looks like you are on the cruise 2 weeks before us on that same itinerary.

I do have a question for some of our experts out here, what is the rotation for cruise directors? I know most of the crew does like 7 month contracts, 2 months off, and then they come back but what is it for officers?

We had Christian on the Dream 9/2015, Jimmy 1/2016, Trent 4/2016, Jimmy 9/2016, and now Trent 11/2016.

I don't think the officers have a contract like the "regular" CMs do. They pretty much work year round, but they get extended time off for vacations. And are moved around based on where the need is, and what they request.

That is what I have read but my mom us to went on a 3 night dream and it was at 10

I would have thought so too but it almost feels like they are on 2-3 months then off 2-3 months (at least Cruise Directors) based on what I've experienced on the Dream the last 14 months.)

What is the Winterland Ball? Is that adults only? Is it formal? We board the Dream on Friday for our first ever cruise!

It's not a ball like you are thinking. It's just a little show they do in the atrium where they bring out Santa for the first time and all the characters are in their holiday attire.

Enjoy your cruise and prepare to be hooked. We took our first September of 2015 and have been on the Dream 5 times in only 14 months. One of my friends from work will be on your cruise as well:-)

Thanks! That seems really late for a Santa thing. My kids will be in bed (and so will I!)! We are east coasters, though.

Did the gingerbread house making use the kits or were they the fresh-baked soft kind? Just saw in another thread who got kits out of Galveston!
