I had previously sailed on the Disney Dream and Celebrity Silhouette, and I would rank this as my favorite cruise yet! I was concerned about the small size of the Magic, but it turned out to be the Magic's greatest asset. It was easily navigable and utilized its spaces very well. Sure, the atrium was much smaller, but I never found it to be inadequate.
The ship was gorgeous and only showed its age in a few areas: the verandas (chipping paint, etc.) and stateroom bathrooms (old tile, poor water pressure in the shower, etc.) are the two that immediately come to mind.
We have only a few minor complaints. Our A/C seemed to become less effective as the week went on. However, this could be a result of increasing temperatures. Additionally, around the ship and sometimes even in our room, we would detect smells of motor oil (likely diesel exhaust); but this was never bad enough for us to complain. I did not care for the pirate party, as I just don't care to see adult cast members dancing around for an extended time. I like Mickey's surprise entrance and the fireworks, but I wish they would make it more of scripted show and leave the dancing for after the fireworks. Finally, I found the adult entertainment to be a little lacking... but isn't this always the case? The adult-centered shows were a little cheesy and left a lot to be desired. Trivia is fun, but after doing it three times, it gets a little old. I loved the look of the 3 adult venues. I never was able to enjoy a drink in Keys, and it seemed to be empty most of the time.
And now, the highlights. The service was awesome! The standouts were our stateroom attendant (forgot his name), dining server (Bojan), assistant server (Maria), and staff from the kids' clubs. My nephew LOVED the Oceaneer's Club/Lab, and I was a bit jealous of the youngsters' awesome play areas. The Christmas décor was beautiful, especially in the atrium. The food was generally above average in all three dining rooms. Brunch in Palo was spectacular! On deck, the pizza, schwarma, and spicy chicken sandwich were wonderful. As for the shows, Tangled and Disney Dreams were both fantastic... Dreams might be the most bang-for-your-buck hour of theater in the history of live performances. Twice Charmed was nothing special, but the magician on pirate night was pretty entertaining. Being able to take my nephews to see a new movie, The Good Dinosaur, in the movie theater was pretty special. However, there were many adults in there acting quite immature and nasty because of their arriving late and not finding a seat. Come on people, set a good example for your kids!
I think I covered everything. Please let me know if you have any questions!
