Just not riight..

I just got off the phone with MS and the CM stated that her supervisor told her that SAB will be available to BW guests. They will have transportation back and forth. Yay! :thumbsup2

When we stayed at GCV the same thing happened to us. We had looked forward to using the pool and slide well no letter either at home or in the villa and no pool hopping was available. Only a large hot tub was able to be used. I asked could we use the other hotels. My answer was this is not Florida.

There's just no way I could accept that answer. When we stayed at PPH and the pool was closed, we were totally allowed, keys were already pre-set, to get in to the DLH pool instead. Not a chance they would get me to be OK with not using PPH or DLH's pool if I were staying at the Grand and its pools were closed.

:banana:Yay! Thanks for that. I tried to call MS today but it was going to be 15 minutes before I could talk to anyone.

I just called the Boardwalk using the phone number listed in the DVC info sticky. Not sure if I got the actual resort or a call center. Anyways, I asked if we would be able to pool hop to Beach Club since the feature pool was going to be down. She said she wasn't sure and put me on hold to find out. After a few minutes she came back and said that we would be able to pool hop to Beach Club. Maybe someone who goes after January 2 can post what they found out? My kids will be upset without a slide!!

We check in at BWV on 1/1. I will ask the front desk if we will be allowed to hop to SAB and post the answer. Fingers crossed that we will allowed to hop- it's looking like mid 70's pool weather the first week of January! :cool1:

I would not worry about this. AFAIK, it has always been the case in the past that when major pool closures happen at one WDW resort, guests of that resort can use another pool complex. I had this happen to me a few years ago at BWV when the slide was closed, and we were welcome to use SAB. It is possible that Member Services just isn't in the loop on this.

I just spoke to the resort and to the vacation club. Both told me you cannot use storm along bay. I pressed the issue with DVC and they told me that StormAlong Bay would be closing also which is why you couldn't do it.

FYI my trip is from 2/28 to 3/7 so that is why yu may be getting different story for your dates.

DVC News just published a list of pool closings:

There are dates where the SAB slide is closed.

Also, I just saw another post that said there was a typo on the letter for BW regarding the dates. It should be 1/28 to 3/1, which matches up with dvcnews.

Wow. Third call. Third different story. Storm along bay is going to refurb either the end of January or the beginning of February. They will allow pool hop from boardwalk if pool is open and there isn't a sudden surge of guests.

When I MS the person I spoke with asked her supervisor as well.

I certainly hope this is still the case. We went back and forth quite a bit trying to decide if we should move over to VWL but decided to stick with BWV.

Could someone please translate my first sentence for me? WTH?
The person from MS that I spoke with checked with her supervisor as well.

That would be incredibly wrong of Disney to close the main pool without providing another theme pool option. We bought a BWV contract last year and are staying there for the first time this January & I will be very disappointed if the weather is nice. Worse yet, though are the people who save up for a long time to stay at a deluxe hotel, just to find out at the last minute that they'll have a pool inferior to the value hotels'.

If the resort pool need maintenance, what is the best time of the year to do it? During the middle of the summer when it is 80-100 degrees or January, when it could be as low as 40 degrees? They have to schedule the maintenance some time.

We arrive on Sunday at the BoardWalk. Just received a letter telling us Luna Park Pool will be closed on 1/2 and no other pool hopping options are available for us. Just not right in my opinion

I would think it might be a bit chilly for swimming but BW does have another pool over by the community hall - right along the canal. Head to the canal and go to your left. It is not anything fancy.

I am surprised that there is no pool hopping over to SAB also since Luna is closed.

thanks for the link. It does show the 28th for BWV. I'm surprised how many pool slides will be closed during our visit. Anyone looking to change resort for the pool reason only should check out the link. I arrive at BWV on the 23rd. Someone should be reposting next week to update us.

I never had a problem with the maintenance schedule. I just think it's unfair to suddenly stop allowing the use of other theme pools. It doesn't affect me much, but several families likely saved up $$ for a big time for this trip, only to be informed at the last minute that they'll be getting a pool inferior to value ones. Disney absolutely has ro do maintenance, but they should have given people more warning or access to another nice pool

Again, I don't think this is going to happen. I've been visiting WDW during February for a decade now. There have always been pool/slide closures during this time. AFAIK, guests at affected resorts have always been invited to use another nearby in-service pool. I suppose this long-standing practice could be changing, but I rather doubt it.

Yes, some CMs are saying otherwise, but you could call three different CMs with a yes/no question, and get three different answers.

Just got off the phone with MS. I called to add magical express for our February reservation at the Boardwalk.

She informed me that they were told yesterday that we WILL be able to go to Beach Club and use SAB.
