I love Christmas. I wait for it every year. I save and I wait and I look around for the gifts I think are the best.

But not this year....this year I am at the point that it is one week from Christmas and I could care less. Feels like too much responsibility for me this year!

I am pretty sure it has a lot to do with areas in my life that will have to change in the New Year..not feeling the optimisim I should about it. But, really how did this happen to me? My Christmas tree is standing with lights but no ornaments...my dd decorated some of the house but the rest of the decorations are still sitting in the dining room. Everyday for a 5 days since I took them out I 'want' to do it...but don't have the energy to do it.

I am a scrooge this year and I don't know how it happened! Bah Humbug!

Expectations for holidays can become unrealistic. Don't let that get you down:santa:

I agree. Don't let it get you down. We don't have a star on top of our tree this year. Who cares??! Have fun with Christmas!

Like Joy Behar says on the View 'who cares? So what!". LOL.

Thanks!

I was just sitting here looking at the tree thinking..in the dark you wouldn't even know it just had lights on it! :lmao: It probably would be easier to take down too!

Oh well...maybe a little wine and a bath at 11 in the morning will help!

I know a family that sometimes just puts lights and tinsel on their tree! Some years you just don't feel like going "all out". Just do what you want to do and forget the rest.
You can still enjoy Christmas without everything done perfectly. Don't let things get you down, and concentrate on enjoying family & friends.

"Every" Christmas doesn't have to be an "all out affair".. Do what you feel up to doing and I'm sure it will be fine..
We put the tree up and decorated the mantel this year - that's it.. :santa:

I'm totally feeling like this also. Hey...at least you have a tree! Maybe we will get one this weekend. I did get my cards sent out and bought two gifts. Potluck party at work on Friday and I have no desire to go so I opted out. I did pull two boxes of decorations out of the garage on Sunday, but they are still sitting in the middle of the living room floor un-opened!

It really is ok to not have the "perfect" hallmark Christmas. When did it become so much about the trimmings?

I think there are too many outside influences that we all allow into our thinking. People/shows/whatever out there telling us it is only correct when our house looks like a movie set. When we have 100's of $$$ of perfect gifts for everyone we ever met and when we have learned to prepare a 5 course meal.

I for one have decided this year to no longer buy into it all. I will choose the things I enjoy. I might have pizza for Christmas Eve dinner. We are not putting up all the decorations we have this year. I am not buying gifts for anyone but my family and a few close friends. And they are very simple gifts too. Not hugely expensive. And you know what? I am not a crazy woman right now. Really. I am fine - happy- relaxed. This is a good place to be and I am NOT going back!!!!
