just needed to vent!

Another vote here for calling again to see if it turns up. My 15 year old daughter was at MK last year on a school trip. She took off her hat, which was covered with pins, while shopping on Main Street and her hat disappeared. She was pretty upset and figured it was gone for good, but she visited GR and left her contact info. A few weeks later, a package arrived from Disney containing her hat and all the pins! While we initially thought someone had taken it, what likely happened was someone turned it in, and it just took a while for Disney to connect the item with its owner. I also had a beach coverup returned a few weeks after we left Disney, which I lost at the Beach Club pool.

I know we have turned in things we found, like a camera we found in a BTMRR car, so I like to think that was karma at work. :goodvibes

Unfortunately, we took my mother to Disney once and she lost her wallet either on the Magical Express or in the lobby of the POR before we even checked in. Eventually only her driver's license made it back, but she never saw her credit cards or cash again.

So sorry for this. We had the same thing happen to my son a few years ago.
We were on the monorail after making it though to ALMOST 3:00 a.m. for the MK EMH and my son fell asleep on the monorail.
Once we carried him back to the room we realized his lanyard was gone. He was devistated as well as he had just finished collecting one of the pirates sets and had worked on it for a few trips. As well as all the other pins he had on it.

I would say to keep calling as well. His was never turned in but they did tell us to call the main lost and found.

The gift shop where we replaced his lanyard heard us talking about what happened. We still purchased the lanyard but they game him a few pins from their collection to start off with.

The exact same thing happened to my son, except it wasn't a lanyard it was his pin bag. It sucks! Hopefully yours gets returned to lost & found.

We did not get ours back, but I know if I found a pin bag or lanyard I would definately turn it in. I would like to think most people would do the same and whoever founds ours was just a bad apple.

This makes me sad. I don't understand how this world can be filled with so much yuck. That being said, I always have my kids take their favorite pins OFF of the lanyard before each park day. We leave the favorite ones from the previous trip AT HOME. I know they fall off, etc. and I'm not willing to risk the heartbreak for some that simply can't be replaced.

This is exactly what we will do from now on! He loves talking about and showing off his collection, but now that I realize what happen if one (or all) go missing I would rather not chance it ever again!!!

at least I know I am not alone in having disney things go missing and being totally crushed over it. I was literally crying at Guest Services!! I emailing Disney today and called the Lost and Found, I will call everyday if I stand a chance that we might get his lanyard back!!!

I hate that after the whole fun day, he remembers losing his beloved lanyard most- so sad! That was his favorite thing ever!

I feel so sad for all the people who lost things, we have found stuffed animals, wallets, even a 100$ bill in the pool and always turned them in!

as silly as it may sound, its nice to have other disney minded people to vent to!
Remember in all of this to also keep reminding your little guy about all the other stuff that happened that was good -- rides, meeting characters, etc. Yes, he'll be sad about the lanyard, but don't let that be the only thing he remembers. A reminder to him that "hundreds of people lose stuff at Disney every day, so we have to be patient" and "we know losing the lanyard is on the 'not so good' side, but what happened to us that we can put on the 'very very good' side?" is a great way to help him get some perspective and keep him off the "I'm sad all the time" train.

Disney Lost & Found is huge -- there are literally thousands of items there and more and more are turned in daily. A pin lanyard filled with pins that has no ID on it may be hard to pull out of all of the other pin lanyards filled with pins that wind up in L&F so please be patient. If you have a photo of your son wearing the lanyard -- something that would show which pins, what kind of lanyard, etc -- you can send a copy to Disney Lost & Found via Guest Correspondence. That may also help reunite a turned-in item with its owner.

On a side note ... I would urge everyone to not automatically go to the "someone stole it - how could they!" place. It's far more likely that a CM or another Guest picked it up and took it to Security or Guest Relations or another CM or a dozen other places in order to be routed to Lost & Found. Not everyone picks up something they found in a bathroom and then instantly walks it down to GR. Stuff can literally take days to show up and get logged in. WDW is a big place and even lost stuff has to travel a while to get to its destination!
