just needed to vent!

I'm so sorry for you son. That's pretty crummy.

Certainly not something of great value, but the last time we were at Disney, I dropped DD's custom minnie bow that I made. She took it off and I just clipped it on to the hem of my shirt. We came out of Liberty Tree Tavern and got situated in front of it. The bow was definitely there at this time. I put on my jacket and we turned the corner when I realized that the bow was gone. We retraced out steps and it was no where to be found. Someone picked it up that quickly. Obviously a kid's bow. Sometimes people just stink. At least I didn't shell out big money for it as I'm sure you did on all those pins.

We dropped our son's blanket on the way to the buses at Epcot one time and didn't realized we lost it until we got back to the resort.

I was in tears, it was his baby blanket. luckily, it was a gift so it had his name and everything embroidered on it. I called for the next 2 days and it was finally turned it.

I was a happy mom, but it took about 2 days.

So sorry to hear this. There are so many rotten people in this world. If it doesnt belong to you...turn it in so the person can reclaim it!
I am really surprised that they didnt offer your DS a new lanyard and a couple of pins. Not saying they should, or have to, but that was our experience. When we were heading to DHS a few years ago, DD10 left her water mister thingy on the bus. She had used her own souvineer money to purchase it a few days before, and she was very upset. We realized as soon as we were in the park and went straight to Guest Services to see if they could radio the bus driver. While they were checking on things, another CM came strolling in carrying a brand new ice water filled mister for DD. We surely werent expecting them to replace something that was our fault for leaving, but they insisted. DD was very appreciative and I assume another family left with our mister off of the bus;)

Have him leave all his good pins at home and get him some cheap pins to put on the lanyard. (A few pins to be traded can be left on at any given time.) Others passing by will just think he is proud of the many (quantity wise) pins he has, and in the few seconds other guests walk by they won't identify the pins as possibly fake.

OT (copied from an amusement trade magazine) Some carnival owners are perturbed that ride operators play the same few tunes over and over. However new people are constantly approaching the ride and to them the music is nice and sweet.

OP , don't give up hope. My Dsil lost her favorite running jacket at AK, it must have fallen out of her stroller. But someone did turn it in. She called Disney Lost and found every few days and it was located and eventually sent to her but it was about a months worth of work. Keep calling back. Last trip we found two credit cards and turned them in. The one gentleman came up to the front desk just after we turned it in and the CM must have mentioned that it was my DD that found it and he was so greatful that he insisted on buying her a treat in the gift shop. I do think that people turn things in, just sometimes they don't get back to the owner. Good Luck:)

I am sorry to hear this and it is a sad reminder that those kinds of things can happen even in the happiest place in the world

My DD was crushed when she lost her Jack Sparrow sword after levying it on top of a FP machine.
Lucky for us a CM on the Winnie the Pooh ride asked her why she was crying and When she explained, the CM gave her a voucher for a new one (it doesn't cost too much, but I was going to let it be a lesson on taking care of your things...)

Yep, happened to my DD last October too :sad2:

But rather than tell my story, I will point out that we have turned in several items (some valuable and some that could possibly have been purely sentimental - cuz you just never know!) If I see something lying around or left somewhere, I look around first to see if anyone appears to be 'looking for something' or returning to the area in haste, but I waste not time in picking it up. Why? Because if I don't take it right to customer services, the next person who picks it up may not. I don't know how much time has passed but sometimes things take a couple of days from being handed in, to showing up on the lost and found inventory. I would keep calling. We did for 2 weeks (just in case).

Another agree here - Central Lost and Found sent us (free of charge) my son's mouse ears that he got on his first trip, and lost on our most recent one. Needless to say we were thrilled when we got it back!! They're wonderful.

I found a pin on a ride while I was at the park, and turned it in - hopefully that's what happened with your son's lanyard!

did i mention upon check in (one night only) at our offsite hotel, they overbooked and we had no room!!! What a trip!

Yes. Twice, actually... ;)

Seriously, I'm sorry you lost the pins. And the hotel thing, too. Where did they walk you to?

So sorry you lost all of your precious pins. I know that things bought in WDW carry such a sentimental value that they can't be easily replaced.
Because WDW is so big, the person that took it probably figured it would never be returned to the owner, and if they didn't take it someone else just would. I can't believe people like this.
It's sad that parents would teach their children to take things that don't belong to them by doing this.
I wish you luck with calling Lost & Found. Maybe someone turned it in...don't lose faith in humanity just yet!:)

Keep calling. It might still show up. I am sorry that your trip ended so badly. That is truly very sad.

I am sorry you had to go thru this.

as a friendship gesture, would you let me send you a couple of pins
from my next trip in october?

if you are okay with this, pmail me with your address.
I would be happy to send you and your son a couple of pins.

I would be freaking too. :sad1:

I hope someone returns it. Maybe someone good and honest found it.:goodvibes

One year DH was pushing DS in the stroller out of MK to the busstop. I was further behind him walking with my niece. DS's pirate hat (he had dressed up for our CRT breakfast) fell out of the basket on the stroller. DH didn't notice it. A man who was with 2 other adults, picked it up, brushed it off and kept it. Clearly he saw it fall out, I was behind him and I saw it fall out. He was going to keep it. I couldn't believe it. I walked by him and said "oh, thanks for picking up my son's hat" and took it and then caught up to DH. The funny thing is the hat was from the Dollar Tree.:rotfl: I really wouldn't have cared what happened to the hat, but it just made me mad that he knew who it belong to and it was a 4yr old. :confused3

The quote in your signature are very fitting for you - in the nicest way imaginable. :goodvibes What a lovely gesture!

:worried: awwww...

To the person who took your pins: SHAME ON YOU! What goes around comes around!

I also urge you to contact the central Lost & Found office. Guest Relations sends the stuff on so there is a good possibility that someone else sent it on and the person you spoke with doesn't know that. Be prepared to wait on hold for awhile but when we lost a plush that my daughter was very fond of they mailed it back to our home for free. It arrived home the same day we did.

re-reading this board made me tear up all over again!! But your post had a little happy tear to it. I will PM you soon! He told everyone today it was the "worst day ever" how sad!

at least I know I am not alone in having disney things go missing and being totally crushed over it. I was literally crying at Guest Services!! I emailing Disney today and called the Lost and Found, I will call everyday if I stand a chance that we might get his lanyard back!!!

I hate that after the whole fun day, he remembers losing his beloved lanyard most- so sad! That was his favorite thing ever!

I feel so sad for all the people who lost things, we have found stuffed animals, wallets, even a 100$ bill in the pool and always turned them in!

as silly as it may sound, its nice to have other disney minded people to vent to!

It does take awhile for things to make it back to guest services. We left a camera at Chef Mickey's once and it took about 3 days for us to find it. But, it turned up!! Very stressful waiting.

Once I left my backpack in the bathroom. I ran back about 15 minutes later and someone had left it hanging on the bench right outside. I was so happy and shocked!

Picie dust that you find the lanyard!!!
