Just met Whoopi.......

She was really annoyed about it. A comedian will say something to get a laugh, but then move on. She kept at it, because she was annoyed, she was not laughing.

Sadly there are people that think that way, but if they really thought about it and had to walk a mile in their shoes.

What makes me sad about this is it affects people who need an ECV at times, Like Kevin does at night because of his sight, they feel guilty or feel a need to explain the use of the ECV and anyone who needs to use and ECV should never have to explain anything.

Please don't flame.... I totally disagree about the ECV comments.

However.... have you ever left the magic kingdom after the fireworks...I've come back with gashes in the backs of my ankles from the number of strollers that have clipped the back of them...

....so although her comments may be insensitive and I do not agree about judging anyone in a stroller or on an ECV, I can see where the frustration comes from.

I have felt similar frustrations in the parks but I understand it happens. I truly believe most folks don't do this on purpose.

I think the issue I really had with Whoopi's comments were the way she described the ECV riders. I believe that is what was out of line. Her issue should really be with rude/ignorant people....not "9000 people who should be walking" (her words, not mine). That is where she crossed the line in my view. I think most people can admit that there are rude people throughout the parks in every imagineable scenario and that's never going to change. It clearly seemed to me that she had an issue with the larger crowd and that didn't sit well with me. As a very smart man once said (Mr. Lee Cockerell) "Every person has a problem you don't know about." For Whoopi to sit there and judge like that and have all those people applaud her for it was distasteful to me. This wasn't a stand up routine, this was her observation and perception.

It's Whoopi for PeteW sake! They should.....Make way...Stand clear!

Who was Whoopi's handler that let people get close enough to run into her with a stroller or ECV?

Her comments were incredibly insensitive. I'm very disappointed that Whoopi hasn't apologized.

In August a woman ran over my foot in an ECV causing so much pain I considered going to the First Aid Station. But after waiting an hour for Summer Nightastic there was no way I was going to take DS out of our spot. I was standing far behind her and off to the side. She backed up without looking and wouldn't stop when people shouted at her. I had my eye in the viewfinder of my camera and was unaware till it was too late. She didn't apologize. Her son did and was terribly embarrassed at how rude she was. I calmed him down. It wasn't intentional. It was an accident.

We've had to use a wheelchair on various occasions and could not believe how often strangers asked what the problem was. I was tempted to make a big sign and attach it to the chair that read "Don't ask!"

Very cool Kevin!!! Yikes on the comments. I didnt see them but it sounds bad.

She was with two other people and a Disney Guest Relations CM.

She was doing her best to go unnoticed, but walked right in front of us.

Ah, how classy of her! You can tell she is a real star and not just one of those attention-seekers.

I was thinking the same thing...nice to know that some people who are clasified as celebs, don't need to flaunt it...and just want to enjoy a little fun in their lives without disrupting the peace and enjoyment others (regular people) are having. Shows she has alot of respect for others.

Mike
