:yay::yay: I am 36 years old male and crazy excited for my families first ever WDW vacation. We made my reservation for a Cabin at FW. Beyond excited.

Still over 280 days till we go, but whose counting.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posts in this forum. I have learned much just by browsing and reading posts.

Also. I called WDW to make the reservation and could not believe how friendly they are.

That is all.

Congrats! My first experience at FW was ~35 years ago and I loved it. Have been several times since. We even did the cabins. Just did group camping recently--first trip back in many years--and it was just as awesome as nostalgic as ever. We just booked a fall visit.

You will have so much fun. It is a unique Disney experience for sure.

Welcome you have found a great site full of those afflicted with a love for Disney and it's original resort. Ask a question and you are sure to get pointed in the right direction "most of the time" . You and your family are going to LOVE the cabins roomy and spacious think suite at another resort. CM's are friendliest on property IMHO and fellow guests are by and large the same way, willing to lend a hand if they think you are in trouble

:welcome: to all the benefits of staying at the Fort!!
Our first visit was in 1972 so everything was all new and small, but still A-1!! It has grown very much with many changes (some, we will forever miss), but has added more campsites and the addition of cabins.

Once, you come, and get a 'taste', you 'will' return!!
Maybe you'll also 'graduate' to the RV life!! :P

That is the plan. ;)

I am the thrilled one, My wife on the other hand wants a vacation and would rather do anything other than WDW. That is why I picked what seems to be one of the lowest crowd levels in January. From what I hear most spouses tend to love it once they get there. Here is to hoping.

First of all welcome. We try our best to be helpful to folks whenever we can.

My first trip to WDW was in 2009 so I was 33 y/o on my first trip while my wife had been before me a few times with her family. You'll enjoy the Fort, no doubt. It's probably the best resort to just sit back and relax a few days between the parks. Your neighbors are also friendlier. Make sure you sneak in some time for some looping.

Don't worry, she'll have plenty of fun.

Now, being as I'm usually considered the off-the-wall individual around here I'll ask the obvious question: Your Disboard name...you gotta fill us in on that one. Tell ya what, follow the below link to a very good thread started by 4077 a while back and please humor me by posting an answer on that thread.

I replied to that thread, Thanks for linking that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence about the wife, I am sure she will have a blast considering she would do anything to make our kids smile.

Ah, well that's better than getting nicknamed because you scratched all the time.

Cool, well glad to have ya. Don't be a stranger, post anything else you may have questions about. We're all here during most business hours. I usually frequent in the midnight to 1 AM range due to work.

Help yourself to the coffee, juice, and doughnuts. Hands off the acorns, those are already spoken for.

Keep us UTD.

Wasn't thinking of touching the acorns! the coffee however... thanks.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I am sure as this 286 day countdown gets closer I will have lots more questions.

Welcome Famed_Flea. This is a bunch of great people & can answer any question. Your 286 days will be here B-4 you know it - then you will crying all the way thru the great exit "See you real Soon"!!

I hear you on this. I am the Disney fan in our house and planned our first trip and truth be told had a major portion paid for before DW learned we were going. She has since started to come around. I still book trip plan where to eat touring and so forth but she looks in o a lot and says what she wants I comply. Cabins may not offer room or turn down service or other in house upscale ammenities but offer my DW any other resort and she want Ft W in our Motor Coach or Cabin. Did AKL club level a few years ago and from day 1 she wanted to go to a cabin. January is a great time we will be there for most of the month Hope to see you there

280 days seems a long way off. I'll be checking in about 290 days when you tell us your wife had a really great time and can't wait to go back. Show her the thread "Kickin' it at the Fort", feet up on the rail relaxin'. She start to understand then. Next thing ya know, you'll be lookin' at travel trailers. Seriously, welcome to The Fort and enjoy your stay. Nuthin' better than be at Disney to make ya feel like a kid again. Trip report and pics if ya can, even if it's after ya return home. :welcome:

AWW thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I can't wait to be there.

Also is there a support group for people addicted to this site and podcast? If so please point me in the correct direction.

I cant think of a better place for you to stay on your first visit. The fort is just the opposite of the parks. After spending all day in crowds of people it is nice to come back to some place very quiet. Kind of takes away the "overwhelmed " feeling.

We consider ourselves a "group". We also "support".

So hang out and join in.
