and my entire family LOVED it. 2-bedroom unit, which was beautiful, spacious, and right near the quiet pool, and the bus stop. Why people complain or are hesitant about this place is beyond me. We've stayed at them all, and we were so comfortable there. Beautiful decor, and the Verandah overlooking the golf course with spacious rooms. All of these DVC places are unique, and we enjoy all of them. Son was disappointed we couldn't stay at the Boardwalk. That was completely filled up, but believe me, this was not second best. :thumbsup2 He came around very quickly about this resort.

Don't hesitate to stay there. Olivia's was great this morning for Mickey Waffles!! and everyone is very friendly!!

Glad you had a great trip. We love OKW, and particularly love breakfasts at Olivia's.

It's great to hear nice things about beautiful OKW! We love OKW also, especially when we go without company. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and the rooms are the nicest of any of the DVC units, IMHO. Also love parking right outside the unit. When doing lots of park visits with guests, we still prefer BWV because of the proximity to Epcot and MGM and all of the activity on the BW, but OKW is #1 when chilling out is our top priority.

Olivia's has Mickey Waffles??? They're not listed on the menu on Deb's site, so I thought I'd have to go offsite with DD to get them! I was actually planning a breakfast at 1900 Park Fare *just* for the Mickey waffles.

She'll be thrilled!!!

By the way, did you happen to be on the Dining Plan? If so, is Olivia's a TS credit? Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed OKW Toby! We have yet to stay there but can imagine a trip here sometime in the future. We want to try them all out and this is one of the only DVCs we have yet to conquer!

We were there is April and Olivia's is listed on the DDP brochure as a TS restaurant. We used our DDE card for breakfast and saved the TS credit for dinner.

Yes, Mickey Waffles are available upon request. Just not listed on the menu, for some reason. We were not on the dining plan, but we have a DVC dining discount card where we get 20% off of meals, which we used there.

Speaking of Mickey Waffles--- I'm off to make them right now!!! We have them every Sunday---- You can get the waffle iron from the DisneyStore.Com.

Thanks, everybody! I've just checked out Disney Store, and the waffle iron is on sale! I think we'll just go to Olivia's for one breakfast, to try to save the TS credits for lunch and dinner.

This is our first time staying at OKW. What buildings do you all recommend? It's just me and my 12 year old DD in a studio. We won't have a car, so are there certain buildings that are closer to the bus stops?

Thanks!

The Mickey waffles are listed on the children's menu : http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_okk.htm

Kgkmom, I don't think you're ever more than 4-5 min away from any of the 5 bus stops (and often 1-3 min on average). But if having a room that is only a minute or so away from a bus stop is important, you could request "close to bus stop" on your reservation. We prefer to make N/S and "water view" are primary requests. Alot of people also like to request "close to HH" to be close to the main pool/lobby/Olivia's. Also, many of the ground floor "studios" don't have the best view due to heavy growth of shrubbery (and some face the AC units). I think 2nd/3rd floor studios offer better views. Have a great stay !

Thanks for the TR Toby ! My whole family loves OKW...glad u enjoyed your stay as well :cool1:

Glad to hear about your great stay! We're heading to our first 1-bedroom stay at OKW in June. We've stayed in a studio in building 64 (I think, it had an elevator and was a great unit), and we're looking forward to this stay, we've asked for 1st floor or elevator building.

Bobbi :)

Glad you enjoyed your OKW stay. It is a beautiful resort, isn't it?

I'm glad to hear you liked OKW. We also stayed at OKW in a 2 bedroom last August and we all loved it. I'm pretty sure the room was 3914 and we were right by the quiet pool and the bus stop for Turtle Pond. We loved the main pool and the boat ride to Downtown Disney. We ate at Olivia's once and the service was great. The waiters thought they took too long with the food (which really wasn't that long), so they offered a free appetizer. We weren't really that hungry so instead they made our drinks free!

Toby,
We just returned from our 5 nighter at OKW. We had a dedicated two bedroom in bldg. 53. Close to the quiet pool in the Southpoint area. We love the area. We have stayed there now 4 times and had the Southpoint area each time. Never requested it , it just worked out like that. We walked to HH several times during our stay and the walk was about 7 min. What bldg. were you in??..smjj

Are there certain buildings that are non-smoking? That's the only request I put in, but it's a big one for us! I don't usually request specific buildings or areas, but if it would make a difference, I'll try to tag on a specific request.

thanks!

So glad you liked our "home"!

KGKmom, do NOT make a specific building request. You are best off just requesting what is most important to you, and if that is non-smoking (as it is for us), then that is the request you should make. We usualy take our chances and have never been disapointed.

Smoking Optional buildings are 12,19 and 41. All the rest are non-smoking. So there's no need to request a certain building to get non-smoking, just request non-smoking.

Thanks, diane and DebbieB-I'll stick with what I've got requested and not rock the boat. We're not picky about anything else, so wherever the room is will be fine. Non-smoking does matter, so I'm glad to hear that it's usually honored!

The only time I've made a specific location request was when my parents traveled with us, and couldn't do stairs due to arthritis and knee problems. We stayed at POFQ, and were thrilled to have our room requests for the first floor honored. I've never faxed or called or anything with the requests. I just figure if the request wasn't honored by check-in, I'll just ask if there were any last minute cancellations, or see if we can switch rooms later in the week or something.

Can't wait to get there! I need to get a countdown clock going! :)
