Just leaving and had a great time. It rained every day - a lot. But we brought ponchos to wear and just went with it. The rain cause a few ride closures during times we had FastPasses arranged, which could have been problematic. There were also some technical difficulty ride closures. But, they always automatically issued the "return until closing" FastPass available for several rides, and we always saved it for th ride we missed and were able to get on later. We got 3 of those, plus we got one paper return pass.
But, the most awesome FastPass we got was near closing at animal kingdom on Friday. The park closed at 6 and we had a FP+ for Kali river Rapids from 5-6, but the ride shut down before we could get on. So, we got a pass good for the rest of friday OR all day Saturday for ANY attraction at ANY park!! If we had planned to go to MK Saturday we could have used it on Anna Elsa or the mine train. We were headed to HS Saturday though. So, we used it to ride toy story a second time after we rode it with our regular FastPass for the day.
We usually didn't bother booking 4th FastPasses because we found we didn't need them. (We did a 4th one day at MK, but our MK days were light crowds and short waits) Never had a problem getting a rider swap so I could ride with our oldest son and then my husband could ride with our oldest son.
The only thing I found less efficient than I expected was the buses. They took forever - sometimes up to 30 min between buses. And, something that is probably standard but new to me - when we left typhoon lagoon, we were told to take a bus to epcot and then catch a bus back to POR - we took a taxi. We typically fly, but could drive, and may do so next time just to have our own transportation. We took a taxi a few other times to avoid the buses. We could have probably rented a car for close to what we paid for a few taxi rides.
Anyway - I am a planner, but was worried about the over planning FP+ causes. Worried it would take the fun out of the trip. Honestly, I found with 2 small kids it took the stress off once we were here - no need to rush out in the morning and run to a FastPass machine to get our FastPasses before they were gone for the day. We had much more relaxed mornings. In fact, next year I might exclusively book afternoon FastPasses so we can enjoy the hotel in the morning and stay out in he parks later at night. I really was stressed about FP+ before the trip, but it made my trip more enjoyable. We are looking forward to using it again next year!!
