So, I just bought in with a resale at OKW.

We did stay there on cash a few weeks ago and we did the DVC tour with Disney.

We were told that the points NEVER increase. "30 years from now, that stay at BLT will be the same price that it is today", etc.

Now that I am asking some questions about planning my trips and banking and borrowing, another Diser said that the point charts I used are wrong. The points were 'reallocated' for 2010.

Does Disney do this often??

My paperwork isn't finalized, and if they are going to do this whenever they want AND take away benefits like the valet parking, I might just pull out of the buy.

The term 'reallocate' to me means that if some points went up, others should go down. I did not see a single thing on the charts that went DOWN.

Any help in explaining this to me?
As soon as I start to love Disney again, they cut more corners and show their greedy side. First customer service quality, then food and attraction quality, now flat out advertising lies.

Really dissappointed (35 trips...I remember a VERY DIFFERENT Disney).

I would refer to the 2010 Point Reallocation thread as all conversations regarding it are limited to this thread.

As a quick note, Disney can reallocate the points, but the total points can never increase, but this is on an annual basis, not a week, weekend, weekday, month, season, etc. Reallocation is heavily stressed at DVC when buying direct.

The reallocation mostly smoothed out the variances between weekends and weeknights, with some small adjustments for a total week and between seasons.

This is the second time in history a reallocation has occured.

In regards to your other frustrations with Disney, trust me, you're not alone, many long term Disney fans are very disappointed in the current direction of Disney, from lower food quality (DDP partly to blame?) to poor communication from our management company.

From what I understand, Disney had not done a re-allocation of points for over 10 years until now, so it doesn't seem like it happens that often. As for what they did- basically they re-shuffled the points. They made the weekends less and weekdays more. The grand total for the resort for the full year stay the same and that is what they guarantee. The obvious exceptions to this are the normal shifts in points based on when holidays occur such as Easter that changes every year. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks, yeah, I just found the reallocation thread.

It is just so funny that less than a month ago I was at the tour with the salesman saying. "that night at BLT will be the same number of points 30 years ago. The points never change...blah blah blah."

Well, this definitely makes me feel a bit scourned on my great value buy in.
That actually eliminates the extra 3 nights that we wanted to add on for Hilton Head. Plus, it makes our annual trip cost more that what we planned when we bought the batch of resale points. Might have to have one less night a year...ridiculous.

Gonna have to sleep on it.
Unfortunately, the way things are going, I would think that Disney might be doing this more often than every 10 years now.

Every 5-7 is likely what they should have been doing. However, the changes should get less and be needed less often going forward at least for the current resorts with a track record. The only question is whether they were able to completely balance them this time or had to plan another round since they were up against the 20% max change. I think the likely big change going forward is to move early Dec, and possibly part of Jan, away from Adventure.
