Hi everyone!
Hopefully you all aren't sick of the "hey I'm new" posts, because here's another!
I'm Abby, 23, from Michigan and my parents are taking me to WDW for our first family vacation ever this September! My dad has been once a long time ago, and my mom and I have never been. He's always wanted to take me ... but we were never able to. They asked me to come see them last weekend (I live and work an hour away) because they had something "time sensitive and important to discuss with me and they had to talk to me in person" My dad, ever the humorist piped in with the helpful "It's ok, we're not dying, moving or filing for bankruptcy" So I drove to their house Friday after work thinking something serious and maybe bad was going on, we had dinner and I finally asked what could be so important that I needed to rush home? Well, want to watch a movie? they asked ....
and put in the WDW Vacation Planning DVD. I figured they had heard of a job opening (I'm in public relations/marketing) or something along those lines. When it was done, my dad asked - what are you doing the second week of September?
I thought he was kidding!
My parents decided that it was time to go - my dad's health isn't the greatest (had heart stents put in a year and a half ago and recently found out that some of his heart valved have leaks ...) and what with things in the world, like Virginia Tech, his new philosophy is 'you never know how long you'll be here, so make the most of what time you have'
So now we're all saving up our money and counting down, they are going in to AAA to book the trip today at noon and we're going to make our ADRs this week/beginning of next week. May the planning begin in full force! We're flying out Friday September 7th at 7am and returning to Michigan September 14th around 10 or 11 pm.
CAN'T WAIT!!! and everyone I've met on here so far is really nice and helpful!

EDIT! Just got this email from Dad Reservations are made, leaving Flint at 0700 on 09/07/2007, direct flight to Orlando, arriving at 0933. We will be picked up by Town Car and driven to the Port Orleans - French Quarter resort, where we will have river view rooms. 8 day magic your way passes with park hopper, disney dining. We will depart Disney on 09/14/2007, via Disney Magical Express for the Orlando Airport, where we will depart for Flint at 2010. And going through AAA, got the same package from WDW traveler for $800 less than WDW travel quoted me yesterday without AAA. That AAA card does pay, doesn't it?

We are going for our first time too (at the end of May) and I don't know what I would have done had I not found this site!!
She's my favorite too and I really NEED to meet her when we go!
