Hi, We just bought our first membership, at AKL:woohoo:
Now, we are trying to decide where to stay in September... I would like to firm up the plans now, rather than waiting until May to try for AKL... so, we currently have BCV on hold by our guide. Have to call back member services to give membership I.D. & make it a reservation. I am thinking maybe we should try for WLV instead and would like your opinions. This is what my reasoning is:
-I like the theme at BCV, and stormalong bay looks awesome! BUT - we like to do counter service breakfast in the mornings, we have tried it both ways (eating in the room, and going for quick service and we just enjoy that more) and it doens't appear that the Beach Club marketplace has a great selection.
-I have read some negative things about the beds/sofabeds at WLV that makes me think they have not been upgraded like some of the others, but I think the location of WLV would work well for us as we intend to eat at the Polynesian a couple of times, and we do enjoy the electrical pageant. Plus, it seems like Roaring Fork has a bigger selection.
I haven't stayed at either resort before. Any suggestions....

Just wanted to add... I am thrilled to be a DVC member, and I know we will have a wonderful time no matter where we stay! I am just hoping it will be extra special because it is going to be our first DVC stay, and we are bringing my parents with us.

At BCV you could also walk around to the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast as well as having the selections at the BC Marketplace. You can also go over to the Swan or Dolphin for breakfast so should be able to find severeal options. I own at BCV but don't stay there often - We also own at OKW and SSR and my favorite is OKW unless we are in a studio. My next is SSR, BCV. VWL(don't care for the room decor) and last BWV. I expect AKV to be near the top once they are open but can't justify adding on there at this point. Since it will be hot in September I would go to BCV so you can have the SAB experience on your first trip home as members. Depending on your ticket choice you could walk through EPCOT, take the monorail to the ticket and transportation center and then walk to Poly or take the resort monorail or take the bus to MK and then monorail to Poly if you are not doing the MK the days you are eating at the POLY. You can probably plan to be around the Poly or somewhere along Bay Lake to watch the water parade if you really want to see it. I don't know if it is visible from any of the villas at WLV or not. The only thing we saw off our balcony was trees and a slight glimpse of the quiet pool. I do like the main pool at WVL and the pool bar but they don't compare to SAB. In the end it will depend on what is most important to you which isn't neccessarily the same as what some of the rest of us like. I for one have seen the electrical parade and while it's cute don't really care if I ever see it again- others want to see it every trip. I however will see Spectromagic every trip and sometimes twice or more even if no one else in our group will go with me because they don't care that much for parades.

We will be there in September also at SSR for its proximity to DTD since some of our group is staying at either ASMO or PORR and it will be easier to meet up that way. There are also some good CS restaurants we want to go to there. Otherwise I would be trying for AKV for that time frame just to try it.

Whatever you decide - Welcome Home and I hope you have a wonderful trip.

I am not a huge fan of WV either.......BCV is awesome, I would not let the breakfast situation keep me from staying there...the bakery at BWV is yummy. I am also new to AKV but we are going to hold out til May to get October there....nothing like gambling with a vacation huh, LOL. Have a happy trip and welcome to DVC.......the first Welcome Home is so sweet so enjoy it this fall.:goodvibes
