Just hung up w/ Disney Travel(AKL)

I finally heard back from the IPO at AKL about my July 1-7th trip. He said that there WILL be rooms available to guests with reservations during my week on all floors with the exception of the 6th floor. He said that they are, indeed, calling guests and offering to relocate them to other resorts because it turns out that the construction was a little more of an annoyance than they originally thought it would be, and that they are just trying to make sure that everyone has a great vacation.

It made me feel somewhat better about my upcoming trip. He said quite a bit more, but the above is the gist of it. I've never had a "bad" vacation at WDW and I don't anticipate that this one will be anything but fabulous! :thumbsup2

Good luck to everyone!

May I ask what the IPO is?

Good to hear you're stay should be ok! I'm sure it will too. They seem to just be extra careful, since this is people's vacations they are dealing with.

The IPO is the Itinerary Planning Office. When you stay club level at a deluxe they contact you to help set up your itinerary and arrange whatever else you may need during your stay. They've been a really great help to me so far!

What are your dates, 40??? I would HATE not having control over this. Have you talked to your TA yet?? Any game plan? Ill tell you what-thank God for these boards and being prepared for "the call". Can you imagine the poor non-Dissers that have no clue and get hit with this???:scared1:

Yeah, I hate not having control over this as well! I did not want to use a TA, but at the time the best rate was the AAA package, so I had to get an agent involved. We booked so long ago that they did not tell us about the construction...

No, I have not talked to my TA yet. I only became fully plugged in to what is happening when I started making inquieries today. So, I will call tomorrow. hopefully she can get us 3 rooms at another deluxe.

I booked our room only reservation---we have a standard room booked. It will be interesting when we get there next Sunday.

I spoke to my AAA TA on Friday, and told her what was going on. She said she would call. She got back to me on Saturday, and Disney told her they had no idea what she was talking about. That Disney wasn't calling anyone to relocate their rooms from AKL to other resorts. I laughed and told me TA she is either lying, or hasn't a clue as to what is going on. I will not be there until the end of August, but I will keep checking here to see what is going on.

How much do you like your travel agent????Sounds like she didnt do any homework or diggin' for ya.I had one of those that I caught lying to me and a girlfriend about rebooking a weekend in South Beach for a lower price. She was too lazy to do it so she lied and said we would lose 1st nt deposit, the hotel doesnt do that, blah blah. I called the hotel direct and did it myself. Never called her again, she still sends emails and cards............

I see you're from NJ. Me too. I stopped using our local AAA for travel. They were the most unhelpful people ever. Last year when I wanted to upgrade for POFQ to AKL, my AAA agent gave me such a run around and had such an attitiude for anything I asked her. I booked though WDW travel this year. It would be nice to get a discount with my VISA , but even if we don't, I wouldn't deal with those people again.
