Just how cold is March?

Hi All,

I know this one has been done to death, but I'm weighing up a March return and just trying to determine whether it'll be that cold that it won't be enjoyable.

Is it a case of wrapping up warm, or is it that cold you need the thermals etc?

I don't mind 'chilly' (in fact I probably prefer to be slightly cold than too hot) but if it's a case that your 'chilled to the bone' then I don't think it would that much fun.

We went last March and it was very cold - the kids had on a vest, tshirt, long sleeved tshirt, jumper or fleece and a good quality waterproof coat over the top, hats and gloves - when the weather was fine they were OK with this and even when it snowed it was light and quite brisk - on the one day we had rain/sleet - it was bitterly bitterly cold and quite unpleasant really, I ended up buying several extra pairs of gloves and hats to replace ones that got damp.
Having said all that we're going again next March but I am intending to get thermals for everyone and take a large stock of hats, gloves, scarves with us. If you've got a little one I'd recommend a pot of vaseline or lipsalve - my youngest's lips, chin got very chapped and sore.
On the plus side you really appreciate the warmth in the rides like POTC and IASW and there are plenty of food carts selling hot drinks.
It was equally as cold when we arrived back home and there'd been some snow here too. I'm ever the optimist - I got married on a beautiful spring day in March and I've had some lovely days out on my Birthday in March too.

We're thinking of returning in May . Anyone any info on weather/queues then ?

We have been twice in May and once in early June and it was superb. The two times we went in May the weather was high 60s, low to mid 70s and really lovely. This past summer we went in early June during a heat wave and the temps were in the nineties which was much much too hot for us. Each time we have been during this time of year the parks have been practically empty with little to no waiting times for all major rides. This time of year is excellent at DLP, the only disadvantage that I can think of is that Fantillusion is not on and hence, we have never seen it. Looking foward to seeing it at Christmas though.

We went early March and it was freezing. I will never forget stepping off the easyjet plane at CDG and losing my breath it was that cold.

We has a snowstorn and a bit of rain but it was generally dry. We had hats n scarfs and gloves on. But it is cheap!

I think I'll have to look for another time of year, if it takes your breath away it's that cold I think will be just a bit too chilly for me.

Spring to autumn would be better times of year if you want to avoid the cold

If you can make it just a little later you might be ok. We went in April 2004 and it was lovely weather - very mild. You'd probably get the Easter celebrations too that way.
