Just how busy will Hollywood Studios be when TSL opens?

I do think the EMH (both AM and PM) might be less crazy than Pandora simply because it's harder for younger kids to stay up late or be at the parks early.

I really can't imagine it NOT being super crowded. I'd venture to say there are way more Toy Story fans than Pandora fans in the general population of Disney goers. Pandora was/is super crowded mostly due to the innovative design of the land and the cutting edge technology of FOP. TSL won't have that draw, but certainly for families with young kids I can definitely see this being a huge draw, even if they are just "kiddy" rides. DHS will easily become a full day park, if not 2 days depending on how the FP tiers work out.

If it isn't super crowded, then I guess we can all breathe a sigh of relief. But I disagree with Pete that it is a 1/2 day park. We were there from RD through the end of the SW Galactic fireworks show, and there were still some things we felt we missed out on. We also went during a slower time of year, so we probably would have done even less than anticipated had we visited during a more normal time of year with bigger crowds.

I actually disagree with him as well. We go for nine days every summer and always spend at least two full days in HS. ToT is still my favorite ride on property. For me personally, I will visit Toy Story Land and I am looking forward to it but neither one of the new rides will be a reride for me or my six year old. We will do each once per trip. This isnt because we cant but more because I can ride these rides at home. There is nothing special about Slinky Dog for us other than we are riding on a dog vs a dragon at home. In comparison, I will continue to ride RnRC and ToT three or four times per trip because they are well themed rides that I cant spend $40 on to ride at home.

One other thing to remember is that people will likely need to leave this area to eat. Pandora has arguable the best QS location on property. The food options at the Toy Story Land QS are very limited.

I'm in a bit of a pickle trying to make a loose park day plan. We like to hop around, so I am thinking we will definitely do AM EMH if they are offered during our trip. HS is dear to me, so I feel like I have to spend a lot of time there this trip, since it will be forever changed after GE opens. I still think GE should have been a 5th gate.

I don't think there has been a definitive answer whether the Alien ride will even have FP. You figure Slinky will require you to get a FP+ at 60+ days out. But once Star Wars opens, at least there will be good Tier2 choices, assuming all existing rides move to tier2.

Honestly I think both rides should be tier 2 when it comes to FP. DHS has very few rides on tier 2 or options for family rides. Neither of these attractions in my opinion should be considered headliners and are really more of the purpose to help with capacity, in my opinion.

For us, even with Toy Story land, we'll still probably skip DHS. It will be popular, but I don't think it will affect crows like Pandora at AK. But whatever the draw, in 1.5 years, you won't be able to get into DHS when Star Wars land opens.
Which brings up a great point, in order to limit access to safe levels I think Disney would be smart to charge an extra admission to Star Warsland. Example: You want to visit DHS less Star Warsland then it's a regular cost of admission. You want to visit all of DHS plus SWL it'll cost you an additional $50 per day.

We are planning to just get there super early and hit TSL first. Hopefully they will carry the EMH into late August. We really enjoy the franchise, so I can see us wanting to check everything out.

I certainly hope they don't do that. They didn't do that for Pandora. I don't feel the need to pay for extras like EMM, dessert parties, and VIP tours, but those are all add ons to what one can experience with regular admission (minus special seating, treats, hours, etc).

Except that they are opening a new QS place inside TSL, so no need to leave to eat. And even if they do, it's not like they're going very far. HS is still going to smaller than AK.

Agree with this.

We'll be there in August, and I'm expecting it to be VERY crowded. They've closed some family-friendly stuff in recent years which is needed at DHS, so I'd expect this to be quite popular. I think Toy Story is more popular IP than Avatar, but the ride just can't be nearly as cool as FoP. It'll be interesting to see exactly how big the impact ends up being.

For July, they've extended regular park hours by 2hr2, added early EMH every day and late EMH for Fri. This is not as much extra access as they added for Pandora, which I think is a bit of a gauge on what they're expecting.

Also, aren't they keeping ALL of DHS open for EMH at DHS? At AK they only kept Pandora open for late EMH. It was ludicrous, honestly.

I am going to be sad when it opens because lots of the "it's a half day park" people are gonna start going again and cramp my families style while we are trying to get in our 3 TOT rides, 3 ST rides 2 TSMM rides, 2 RnRR rides, Frozen sing along, March of the First Order, Star Wars meet and greets, Muppetvision, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular and (may it rest in peace now) Great Movie Rides. We may have to start spending 2 days there!

You and me both, friend!! HS love all the way :D

Disney must be expecting it to be busy, new hours posted on WDW for July 13-23, (the time we are there) old hours were 9-9. One EMH on Sunday 8-9 am. New hours posted 8am-10pm every day, EMH every day 7am-8am with one 10pm-12pm EMH.

I think it will be worse than Pandora because the rides will be more accessible to more people without the motion sickness issues some have, lower height restrictions, two new great rides instead of one (I love NRJ but that's mainly because I can't ride FoP and many give it the side eye.), and more people are aware of the IP here than they were of the Avatar/Pandora IP.
