Just how busy will Hollywood Studios be when TSL opens?

I know it's a bit of a crap shoot, but, compared to say Pandora, just how crazy will Toy Story Land be at opening this summer? Will we see lines just waiting to get into the new land, like there was with Pandora? How long will lines for the rides be, even with FP+? And how long do you see the popularity lasting? Will there still be lines to get into the land say this fall (yes, I'm wondering about my late November trip, lol)? Long waits even with FP+ for the rides? And how will the opening affect the overall crowds at Hollywood Studios?

For us, even with Toy Story land, we'll still probably skip DHS. It will be popular, but I don't think it will affect crows like Pandora at AK. But whatever the draw, in 1.5 years, you won't be able to get into DHS when Star Wars land opens.

I think a lot of people have been avoiding HS for the last few years because of there being so little open. TSL will give everyone a reason to go back. If there are at least 2 tier one FP+ rides in TSL it will go from a half day park to at least a 1.5 day park just to be able to ride TSMM, SDD and Alien Spinning Saucers.

I'm basically trying to decide whether it's worth going on our trip in November. I mean, the kids love Star Wars, Toy Story etc... but, they also do not love crowds and long waits. We'll have a DAS for my daughter, but even still, her max waiting ability in line is about 20-30 minutes. We only have 2-3 days max at Disney. If it's going to take all day just to do a handful of things, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Compared to Pandora, I dont think it will be that bad. FOP is an amazing ride that has never been seen before. Slinky dog is a pretty basic family friendly coaster. I expect lines for slinky dog to be like lines for SDMT. It will draw more people to the park but for most it will only add an hour or so to their half day at HS.

I would assume pretty busy. However, how would anyone know the real answers to these questions?

It depends if you like shows. We've seen the DHS shows many times and don't need to see them again. That leaves 6 rides when Toy Story Land opens, with 3 of the park's 6 rides in the new land.

I would disagree. People love new stuff because it's new, but Toy Story is far more appealing to a majority of visitors than Avatar. Just look at all the consternation around here when they announced Pandora. So many questioned why they'd ever consider making a land themed around Avatar. Toy Story is beloved by almost everyone.

Toy Story Mania has always been uber popular and crowded years after opening. I’m expecting Toy Story Land’s opening to be crowded in epic proportions.

I’m avoiding Hollywood Studios in July entirely. It’s not going anywhere. I can check it out at some point in the future.

Agreed. I see friends on my Facebook posting about TSL, who have never even shown an interest in Disney World.

An hour or so? 7DMT has been open for over 3 years, and standby waits are still at an hour for most of the day. Standby waits for Slinky Dog will likely be at 2 hours or more through the end of the year at least.

I don't think there will be lines to get into the land in November and FP lines will be relatively short like they are at all attractions. I expect standby lines will be 2+hours for the new rides and overall attendance at HS will be up though.

Plus 7DMT is in a park with plenty of other attractions for guests of all ages. I have to think Slinky Dog will will have very long lines for a very long time.

Have to try the new rides, and Toy Story Mania is one of my favorite. So I will be there this Oct. But I don't see 3-4 hour standby waits 9 months after TSL opens, like FoP.

Now Star War Galaxy Edge will be massive.

They also desperately need more family-focused rides in DHS. That alone will make Toy Story Land very popular.

Agree with both of these. It's one reason we were so excited about it! We are all huge Toy Story fans here, love all 3 of them, and can't wait to see the new one when it comes out.
