just hoping & wishing... for upgrade?

Has anyone ever gotten an upgrade after you've received your docs? Maybe when you check in at port? Just wondering...

Yup, I have gotten an upgrade after docs. However, don't count on it. The rule is not to book a cabin that you won't be happy in. If you get an upgrade, you get to do the happy dance!

Oh...no, don't get me wrong! I'm very happy with our cabin!!! But I was just wondering...

I've already did the happy dance when the docs came! Not because of an upgrade, but just that our docs are in my hands! (or is there a different separate dance for that?)

Yes we got upgraded after our docs arrived. We found out the night before when we called to make sure we were seated for dinner with my husbands family.
You can always try to get an upgrade at check in. You will have to be there early (close to if not the first person in line) so that you can get one if one is available. It is cheaper to do it this way than to book a higher cat room.

we received upgrades on our last 2 cruises - This past January 3-day, as well as 4-day this past October - we were upgraded at the port from a cat 9 to cat 5 both times....we were surprised and overjoyed....

Thanks for that info about getting to the port early to try to snatch up an upgrade if it is available. We booked a cat 10 room that we are very happy with but we would not be disappointed if we got an upgrade to a verandah. We are going to celebrate our 14th anniversary. About how early do you have to get to the port do you think to be close to the first in line or there about. Maybe a little pixie dust will help also

Yes, on our last cruise we received a call from DU the day before the cruise while we were on the road en-route to Florida.

So you never know....good luck, you will have fun either way.

We were one of the first people at the port. We had arrived just right before 10:00 and went straight to the boarding line. Then when they opened the check in lines we left the kids with the carryons as we checked in. Imagine our surprise when the CM looked at us and told us that "This isn't yours". After just about having heart failure thinking I forgot something, she told us that we were upgraded from category 11 to category 8. ( and I did an actual happy dance in the terminal much to my husband's dismay).

Be careful how early you go. Two weeks ago, my DH went to get the rental car and came back to pick us all up at the port. It was a little before 10:00am and they made him swear that he wasn't there to check in for the next cruise, otherwise they would not have let him go in.

I just checked our Reservation online and we were upgraded from a cat 12 to cat 9.
