We just returned late last night from our first trip "home" to SSR :sad1: . We've been to WDW many times but this was our first trip since becoming members.

We arrived on a Tues afternoon, check in was a breeze. They had us in a first floor room which isn't great for us so they asked where we'd like to be and put us in a 3rd floor room in the Grandstand. Unfortunately the girl circled the wrong building so we got a bit mixed up but found it. We were in 8345, right at the end by the stairs close to the pool and the bus stop was at the other end of our building. We really loved the resort.

Kids preferred the Grandstand pool so we only went to the "big" pool once.

We did have bus issues so we've decided that in future we'll rent a car. Our very first morning we waited 30min for a bus, felt sorry for those in the Springs section because the bus was full by the time it got there. This also happened on our second morning, full bus by the time we arrived at the Springs. Waited one night 45min at DTD for a bus, there were others there before us so it was over an hour between buses - not fun at 10:30p at night when you just want to get to your room to go to bed. We've stayed at moderates, deluxes and now DVC and have spent more time than we'd like waiting for a bus so we'll just rent a car next time.

We went this same week last year and the crowds were noticably bigger.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer!

Well I'm glad you enjoyed SSR but I'm sorry about the busses. I've had good and bad times dealing with the bus system there. Some trips we wait 5 min other trips we wait 30-40 minutes. I don't know what they have to do to fix that, but I hope it becomes more reliable.

So glad you enjoyed your first trip home. Isn't it neat? The feeling the first time you walk in as a member is really great.

Yeah, sometimes the buses are a problem. My sis and I laughed one time that we must have missed every bus we wanted by 30 seconds because it seemed to take forever for the next one to show up. Now that the new section is open, I wonder if they're going to need to reassess their bus routes--at least during the super busy seasons.
