Just home from Poly and. . .

Thanks for posting your review. Glad you had a great stay. I requested Tokelau for our stay in :yay: 20 days.

WOW!!! Thanks so much for all the great tips and info. I can not wait to go in July!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks for the review and so glad you had a good trip. So sorry about cold and flu season catching up with you though.

We leave in less than 48 hours!!!! How I will ever be ready I do not know.
Ditto on the elevators! When we toured the building/room in Toukelou I thought we had just gotten on the wrong one or something. My DH said, oh well, several trips just to get our family of 6 w/2 strollers up and down! hehe

so the Poly has regualr hairdryers not attached to the wall? nice.

and what kind of grocery bag cost $6? and why would you need to buy one? I think I'm missing something?:confused3

does gift shop have sand bucket/shovel type thing for sale? I really don't want to cart them along but know my kiddos will want them, I will just leave behind for next child to enjoy. did quiet pool have any noodles for general use? or if not, were they readily available in gift shop?

Thank you so much for room cleanliness report. I'm a clean freak as well and all sounds good!

I should be packing or doing laundry or something I am sure. . .
:yay: :woohoo: kinda hard to settle down to the mundane with Disney and the Poly looming large:cheer2:

Thanks for your excellent review, Laren. I really love to read that people had a great time at the Poly. It is one of my most favorite places on Earth.

That is funny about the Poly's music. I downloaded the resort loop and often listen to it during work. It helps me cope :lmao: The one that I have is almost an hour long though. I wonder if they have cut the loop to a shorter length or if it is a different one? It was funny to walk around the grounds in July and be able to hum the music.

Maybe it just seemed like 20 minutes LOL. Might have been about an hour. The song that cracked me up was the one that sounds so serious and the guy is singing about the legend of some name or something- struck me as so funny for some reason. You can download the music online? Could you send me a PM telling me where you found it please???

To answer the question about the bag, it was a big plastic WDW shopping bag that cost 6.95 and we needed it because we couldn't fit our purchases into our luggage. They used to be 2.50 apiece! I hadn't been to WDW in three years so it was a shock LOL.

I hope that you have a great time on your trip, kileybeth! I know what you mean about the "Poly looming large" I'm a disney veteran and then some but for some reasons the high expectations my family had of this resort never having stayed there (I had before) really made me nervous- fortunately for us aside from getting sick we couldn't have had a more magical trip.

I'll do my best to answer any more questions if you've got em! :) The trip seems like a dream now, I can't believe it's really over!

Sorry I missed answering this before!

I don't recall seeing pool noodles or buckets/shovels in the Poly gift shops, and we went through them several times I doubt I'd have missed them. I remember thinking it odd that I saw the buckets for sale in EPCOT (at Mousegears I think it was- also possibly may have seen them at the shop between Future World and World Showcase).

Once I saw a pool noodle in the quiet pool (which was our favorite- the volcano pool got VERY crowded and the water was colder) but I think someone brought it with them from home.

Hope that helps, have a magical trip!

p.s. I myself would think twice about having kids play in the sand at the Poly anyway. . .I've heard so many reports that the bugs get you BAD if you go into that sand- we sat on the swings one night for about 15 minutes without bug spray and had no bites but I wouldn't sit in that sand if you paid me!

We watched Wishes from the Poly beach our first night and it was a real disappointment- it was my Dad's first experience with the show and I couldn't believe how soft the music was. You couldn't make out a word Jiminy was saying, and it was very muffled. You could not hear the music over people talking- then two women decided it would be amusing to play their own music over their cell phone and start dancing behind us (believe me, from the expressions of those around us, no one was entertained by this) I think they were drunk. They kept it up for the ENTIRE show.

My advice- unless you get a night where there's no one else around by chance, and you really want to see the fireworks properly, do it in the park. Or from Narcoosees or the California Grill if you're going to be eating there. But don't count on Poly beach for a satisfying experience with Wishes- the music is just too important to the show and you cannot hear it.
