Just had to book through expedia, no more AP for me

Am going on my 4th trip in 13 months Dec. 16-19. My AP expires 12/15. After weeks of checking the general public code and the AP rates I finally booked on expedia to get a better deal. The general code was avail for WL but only if you booked thurs through tues, not thurs. through sunday. Ap was only available for Thurs. at $177.00 and then it went up to $430.00 a night. Expedia was $177.oo first night and $271.00 other nights, about same as general code if it had been available. I know that AP rates are meant to fill in the booking gaps at hotels due to low occupancy, but it is really frustrating to see expedia and general code rates be lower and have more room selection. Usually we only have two trips a year so ticket cost break even, it is the room discount code that was always our benefit. Now I think I will not renew my AP and just roll the dice with general codes and expedia. I hate booking through expedia for Disney cause I like to call disney direct, but it was $300.00 cheaper than AP rate.

I have found that to be the case in several options I considered. Kind of a deal breaker for us as well.

I hear ya! I was set to buy an AP this year and use it to replace the free dining package I got for October. When the AP rates my finally came out only my first 2 days were covered and only Mod was CSR. SO I would have needed to book 2 separate reservations and hope I could get an AP rate for remainder of my trip and at the same resort. I ended up keeping the free dining and only buying a tickets for that trip. Disney lost out on a couple hundred extra dollars of my $
