I just spent so much at the store! It was even more then I thought it would be. $83 and some change. I know that might not seem like a lot for some people, but on a usual week, $40 is really high for me.

I keep on telling myself that it's because I spent over $30 on stuff for fruitcake, and that stuff never goes on sale, and I only buy it once every couple of years, so not to worry about it, and that my actual grocery bill would've been less then $50 without it.

Money's tight right now, after buying a laptop last month, and saving up for my next Disney trip, though that doesn't have to be paid off for quite some time, and with all the extra stuff I buy around the holidays.

Luckily I am pretty much done with shopping and baking supplies that I need. I just need to buy a bunch of eggs and butter the week I actually do my baking, and buy a few more gifts.

My weekly bill is usually close to $300, but my highest was $1000 - I had earned enough shoprite points to have 50% off my bill (now it only goes up to 30%), so I got the max I was allowed. It was awesome! :cool1:

Holy cow, even on a light shopping trip we're lucky to get out under 90 bucks! We spend about 250-300 every other week on groceries. Course, we're big carnivores here and eat steak/pork chops/stew type things at least 4-5 times a week.

Wow! I wish that I had your grocery bill. Our bill averages $130 a week for two people! :rotfl:

OP, how many people in your household just curious. There are 3 of us, and I would say I average about $100-$120 per week, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I just go to the grocery store for just a few regular items like milk, bread and cereal and for food for the day and I'm at $40-$50.We'll do one big shop during the week that will be around $100-$120 and 2 or 3 smaller visits of $25-$50,so we're at $250-$300 for the week.

Eeek! They'd have to revive me at the checkout line if I ever saw that total. We are a family of 3 adults (great grandpa lives with us) and a 7 year old and typically spend less than $75 a week for groceries. What do you buy? I've always felt as though I've fed my family healthy meals... and had plenty of ingredients on hand. Wow.

WOW! I wish I had that small grocery bill - ours average $150/week and we're a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 tweens) and I just buy the necessities no junk food, etc! When I get chips, cookies, extra juices then it gets as high at $200 or more.

I'm with you. I go to Trader Joe's every other week for about $80 and then a regular grocery store once a week for about $50. There are 3 of us in the family with 2 of us home every day for lunch (pre-schooler and myself). So our monthly bill is around $360. I have spent $180 once but that was when I was buying a large free-range turkey to feed 7 of us at Christmas once. I think it alone cost $50.

Wow, I wish I could pull that off! It's only two of us and I usually spend between $110-$120 a week!

I can sympathize with you. We're a family of 5 & I'm a big couponer. I have a nice stockpile in my freezers & pantry. I almost cry if I go over $60 per week. Yes-people it can be done-$60 or less per week for a family of 5. Just hang in there & look for sales & use coupons.

I always wonder what people are buying when they have those $150 weekly bills. We are a family of 2 adults, 1 college kid at home and usually spend $75 or less. We don't buy many prepackaged foods and the meals are simple but healthy, usually made with chicken.

I coupon alot - although not quite as much as I did back before I worked full-time. I shop sales and stockpile. We are a family of four - 2 adults, 1 teen and 1 child plus my adult dd eats with us several meals a week. My grocery budget is $150/wk but that includes personal care items, pet supplies/food and often meds for dh. I buy some convenience foods but I mostly make everything myself. We seldom go out so the food is for all of us every day. I don't buy juice or soft drinks because of the cost. Dh has some dietary restrictions due to health issues so that impacts us some.

If the entire $150 went toward food (no personal care, etc) then it would equal spending $1.78/meal per person or $5.36/person per day. While I'd love to make it cheaper I don't think that is too bad. Some weeks I get buy for way less which is even better.

For starters I have 5 kiddos.

Groceries in our area have gone up so much it is sickening.

I know for a fact, when I used to run into to pick up a few staples it used to cost $30-35........now the exact same items are totaling around $50+. The exact same items!!! It is very frustrating.

We are a family of 5, including 3 teens...we spend an average of 125-175 a week...my milk and cheese alone for the week total over 30 dollars...then add in the fresh fruit, veggies, meat, yogurt....if i spent 60 one week, the next week i would have to spend 200 to catch up... :lmao: I wish i could spend less, but honestly, we would have half empty cupboards :confused3

Let's see with a family of 2 adults and 2 tweens - fresh fruits for breakfast, fresh veggies, meat/fish/chicken for 6 days (we usually have one night of leftovers), lunch meat for 5 days for 2 tweens, apple sauce, milk, eggs, 2 gallons of OJ (Tropicana averages around here at $5.99/gal.), large bag of pretzels, more fruit for snacks, breakfast items (ie. toaster streudel, cereal, breakfast bars), cheese, tortillas for mexican lasagna, salsa, coffee, 100% juice for lunch, spaghetti sauce, Lean Cuisine for 2 days for me. That was my grocery list for Saturday and I spent $141.97 with some coupons including a $5.00 off shopping order. I wish I could get all that for $80 or less but it's impossible where I live.

WOW! I'm absolutely amazed at some of your grocery bills! I think we spend $30+/week on fresh fruits and vegetables alone!!

Don't feel bad, that's what I spend for DH and I. Some of it is just what region you're in, some parts to the country have higher food costs.

And for me, that's after coupons and stocking up on sale prices and buying what I can in bulk from Costco. If I wasn't so careful it would easily be higher.

If I bought the meat and produce I'd like, I'd easily spend $150+ a week for the three of us. I have a 16 year old boy and he eats a lot as does my DH so I have to be careful. I TRY to keep it under $100.

I would be thrilled if that's all I spent in one week.

Between DH's Diet Coke Habit and DS14's Bagel Bites habit (it's the only thing he wants to snack on besides yogurt) , we easily have been hitting 150.00. Plus I have to get food for DD10 and I. LOL

I'm trying to get it back to 100.00 a week. I came close this week but didn't need too much since we've still got a couple of meals worth of stuff in our pantry.

But after this week, the pantry will be nearly empty so it'll be going up again. Plus it's nearly holiday baking season and while I hate to cook everyday stuff, I love to bake.
