Just had another Earthquake

:sad1:Yikes! How freaked out should this midwesterner be?

The news said rides were stopped for a short while and it doesn't sound like anyone was hurt, so that's good news. This is one CA feature I really don't want to experience when we arrive!

We were over at CA but fdidn~t notice or seen anything unusual other than the crowds.

My children & I fly out to Disneyland in the 6th August from Sydney.
The only earthquake I have ever experienced was when I was about 8 yrs old- woke us all up- the windows were shaking.
I must admit we are a little freaked out at the moment....

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being :coffee: and 10 being :scared1:, I'd go with 0. Oh. I can't pick 0? Okay. 1.

We were at Legoland when it happened and barely felt it. They did shut the rides down for an hour, but that was great for us--so many people decided to call it a day and the park was really deserted for the last 2 hours. Our kids got to go on rides over and over with no wait.

It just felt like a small roll of the ground.

There's no reason to freak out. California has earthquakes. It's just a fact. The unfortunate thing is that despite all the studies and research, there is no indicator as to when the next time the Earth will shake. Therefore, if you are visiting CA, you are just as likely to experience a quake a week ago as you are two months from now.

As for rides going down yesterday...
As it was explained to me a few years ago at DLR, if a quake is of certain degree of movement, Disney (and LegoLand is seems, as well as other theme parks) will shut down all rides so that they can perform safety checks. This is a GOOD thing. It is done to make sure that it is safe for you and your family to get back on and have fun - safely. Once each ride is deemed safe, it will be re-opened. If it does not re-open, you don't want it to. It means they found something that needs to be fix to be certain of your safety when you ride.

If you were not freaked out about visiting CA 2 days ago, you should not be freaked out now. :goodvibes

We were upstairs at the Golden Horseshoe during the earthquake. I was leaning on the railing so at first i thought someone was shaking the railing or walking heavily but then I realized it was an earthquake. The chandeliers were swinging just a little bit. Everyone watching the show started looking around at each other but the actors continued on. As far as earthquakes go it wasn't felt very strong at DL. I've been in much shakier ones and even those weren't enough to make anything fall down. I also talked to several CMs who said they didn't feel the earthquake at all. My MIL was watching DS for us back home, about an hour east of DLR and she said it felt more like a rolling/dizzy feeling but our blinds were shaking and making noise. We definitely felt shaking, not rolling at DLR. It's interesting how the same quake can be felt differently depending on where you are.
