I phoned KLM straight away and talked to a very lovely lady, who changed my flight details. I know have a 3 hour connection in Detroit, which gives me a lot more peace of mind than my original 1hr 15 mins anyway. So it kind of worked in my favour, but good job I checked!!

If you have booked with KLM/NWA please check your flight times too!! I certainly will check again before we leave!

:scared1::scared1::scared1: Good job you checked, although the new times seem better for you. It pays to keep checking.

Yeah, I'm actually quite looking forward to a leisurely wait at DTW, they have an ace monorail, and a huge tunnel that lights up and the lights dance to different music. And they have a taco bell.

So 3 hours suits me fine. :) We wouldn't have been doing anything in WDW that night regardless, so I don't mind arriving later, means I have less hours of fighting the temptation of the AKL beds!

Yes, i think a later arrival helps with jet lag. Last year our flight was delayed for hours and we never got to our hotel until after 11pm. We just went straight to bed as it had been such a long day and slept till 7am so from then on we had no middle of the night wakenings

Thanks for the info. We are flying same route with NWA/Delta in October. We have been notified by e-mail 3 times so far of minor changes to the times, so I assumed all changes would be notified this way, but not so sure now. Am off to check for myself!

Yeah - I was notified of minor changes - but not this one!?!?!

they also sometimes do this screwball thing with the baggage carousel there that drives me mad....and if you don't have much time between flights it increases the pressure..
they have the luggage come in on two carousels instead of one..

i once helped another woman find her bags....she was rushing to connect to another flight...i wasn't...i was actually stopping in detroit (where i'm from originally)...
she had several bags and there's just no way to watch both carousels at once..
so i had her describe them to me, and i actually was able to find her bags...they came off on the carousel i was watching....then she made a beeline for customs before reloading the luggage for her next flight...

i don't know why they do that double carousel thing, but it's happened every single time i've come in on NWA from amsterdam...completely insane...

but i agree about DTW - it's a very nice airport...much nicer than most domestic hub terminals...i don't know if it's going to continue as a hub, now that NWA is going out of existence.....but it's definitely a nice airport and very easy to navigate..
and if you can get into the northwest business lounge - you'll be a happy camper...it's very nice (there are several, but there's a big one in the middle)...

Wow, thanks for the heads up! Glad I've got 3 hours now! Lol.

I didn't know about NWA going out of existence!

Phew lucky you checked!!! My flight home with BA got cancelled last year 3 weeks before we flew and I only found out through the DIS :scared1: I check my booking every week now!

I'm flying KLM/NWA to Portland in Oregon at the end of September. They actually cancelled my flight out and I only found out 90 days before the flight when I tried to book a seat!!

I guess maybe we're in the minority connecting to MCO? As DTW is such a big hub, I guess people must be connecting to loads of different places, so someone is always going to get the short straw.

delta bought NWA - for now, both of the airlines are running....
but slowly, over time (i think over the course of a year) NWA will be absorbed into delta....

the planes are slowly being painted over as well...

OK cool :)

Just as long as I'm not going to have a reply of last years XL debaucle!
