Just had 1st WDW trip & really, really missed DLR!

I agree so much! DLR is my home park by far but World Showcase was really neat. I went for Food and Wine last year and am already hoping to return. If you're looking to go back I would steer you towards F&W time of year, it really brought world showcase to life!

The Flower and Garden festival is a particularly beautiful time to visit EPCOT as well. :daisy:

It's funny...we went to DLR in December and we missed WDW. We are long time WDW people and just took the family to DLR for the first time over Christmas. While we missed out on much of the spontaneity normally associated with DLR as dining reservations were vital and solid touring plans were a must with the crowds (not to mention the frustrations with the smaller set up in DL not being able to handle massive lines as well), I came to a conclusion...

It's the memories that often define your 'home' grouping of parks. I know this doesn't hold true for everyone, but for most people, you are going to think back to all of your milestones and firsts and that will likely be the deciding factor. We really enjoyed DLR, even though we never got that WDW magic bubble feeling, but between the years of going to WDW with my parents, my FL resident years of going to WDW with friends, and all the times we've gone with our own children...WDW will always be home. I can't fault the busy time of year since we got to ride or see everything we wanted to do or sort of wanted to do- at least once...we just missed the parks that hold the bulk of our Disney memories.

DH's goal is to visit all of the Disney parks with the exception of maybe Hong Kong. So far we've been to WDW, DLR and DLP. Our home park(s), however, is WDW. We live 2 hours away and have held APs for at least 7 years. That said, we almost like DLR better (so I guess there goes the home park theory). I think for us, its more about specific attractions that we prefer at different parks. For instance, we actually like WDW's Space Mountain better, even DLR is newer, smoother and has a soundtrack. For us, the DLR version is just a big corkscrew with no excitement. That said, DH's favorite ride in any park is the Matterhorn. DLP has the best Thunder Mountain, IMO and Phantom Manor and Pirates there are must-dos. I also like DLP's castle the best. The dragon underneath is amazing! For our daughter though, DLR has many more dark rides in FL and she loves Monsters Inc at DCA. We also love Indiana Jones, which just isn't anywhere else.
